The more pressure put on a keeper the more mistakes he is going to make. A Striker can miss 9/10 open goals but if he scores on the 10th attempt and you win 1-0 he is the hero. A keeper can make 9/10 goal saving stops but on the 10th if he makes a mistake and you loose 1-0 he is the villain.

Last year he was in the top 3 players for us all season, yes he made some mistakes but who didn't ? If Charlie scores those penalties against Hull and WH which were really poor we could have gone on to have 6 more points at least.

Cant help but think i wont Matty... The negatives of his game outweigh the positives for me. Lost count of how many times his kicks go out for throw ins, or go straight up in the air and land on our 18 yard box. If he was younger then yeah fair enough but he aint, his 35. I'm looking forward to having a younger keeper between the sticks.

        Quite unbelievable age discrimination.

The deal will have to be done in next 20 minutes if he's going to sign in time to replace thr suspended Adrian in West Ham's goal this weekend.

Agree to disagree as the amount of points he has saved us far far outweighs any he has cost us (IMO of course). He does have downfalls to his game though, certainly his kicking.

Whilst a big fan of his, I am all for a decent young keeper taking over I just hope they, whoever we end up with (Smithie at the moment I guess) are up to the task!
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

Yeah, I'm just not a fan never have been... I would argue that the saves he has made should be saved and could be saved by the likes of Smithies who is a great shot stopper as well (we will never know though). A good goalkeeper for me is made up of everything, i dont think Green is. Far too many errors in his game and far too many downfalls. If Smithies can kick and be commanding of his box then we are already one up on Green because those things Green cant do!

Quality goalie when he's on form but 50k a week of quality? Not for us currently.

Green has a few mistakes in him but overall he keeps rangers in most games over a whole season imo

Wouldn't say he's quality as his kicking is on par with a Sunday league keeper. He's dropped a few clangers as all keepers do but he's kept us in a lot of games with some superb stops.

Lets weigh the positives and negatives up of Robert Green as a player.

                            Positives:

Great shot stopper from outside the box
                            Great reactions
Good footwork for long distance saves
                            Commands defence well

                            Negatives:

Liable to Fumble the easy ones
Can't kick for toffee... Far too many go out for throw ins or land no-where back in our own half, putting us in the sh1t.. Exhibit A. Chelsea at home last season.
Doesn't/cant come for corners - Flaps at crosses in general when the box is flooded with bodies, instead of being big and assertive and punching.
Beaten at his near post FAR too often
One v one - terrible. Struggles to judge the situation in front of him i.e. when to leave/come off his line and confront the striker.

He may have made some brilliant shot stopping saves BUT the amount of times he has put us in it with the negatives i have listed above is un-real.

This is all my observant opinion after watching him for a few seasons now.

Not an overall fan and wanted McCarthy in straight away when we signed him.

There is still 24 hours to go until tomorrows game but if Green hasn't gone by then who gets the jersey against Rotherham ?
