  • Rob Green... What do you want?

I hope Rob leaves for West Ham, reason wages are too high and can mean we can bring in two keepers on the same wages as what Rob was on or less.

It is a gamble as we don't know if any of Bentley or Smithies will come in?

I'm not really a risk taker but I'd take one here, plenty of good keepers about and will reduce our wages.

Would you rather Keep Rob Green, if so why?

Would rather he left to be honest, never been his greatest fan. His hand some blinding games but i have always felt he is liable to an error..
Cant kick, high wages, getting on a bit.... SELL UP.

Personally i wouldn't let him leave until we had a done deal on his replacement.

I'd like to see Bentley come in, young hungry something to prove, wages can be low whilst still being lucrative for him. Bags of potential. Bit cocky at times but definitely worth a punt. Reminds me of Joe Hart a bit. All for less than 2 mil too, i dont know enough about smithies to comment on him but seen bentley a few times.

I can see both points of the opinion here - Get rid, if neither of Bentley or Smithies comes off, there are plenty of other keepers, second string prem keepers that are just as good.

Surely it is unwise for us to release someone without having a back up done and dusted.

Wont be fussed either way with Green tbh, think he has been good for us on the whole and would leave with my best wished.

            Agreed,

Greens on his last couple of seasons IMO, if we can get someone in in their early twenties, we have potential for long term stability, and or potential sell on factors if they excel. Again id thank Rob and wish him well too but like said above we cant let him go until we have the replacements signature on the contract.

Heard somewhere that Green is on 50k a week which is 2.6mil a year, so if we can get Bentley for under 2mil and his wages are around that 15k mark we are breaking even which is great, so for that reason alone I cant wait to see him go.

Rob, take the Central line to Mile End, change for the District line to Upton Park.

The goal you conceded against Chelsea last season will haunt me for years to come

agree with the majority, thanks Rob but if we can get in a younger keeper on half his wages than it's a good deal for everyone
I must away now, I can no longer tarry

Should of Kept McCarthy and got rid of Green. When you weigh it up, RG is on good money and we can get a decent Fee for him, no brainier for me. Seems mental that were in this situation. my mate is a Southend fan and rates Bentley. Let's snap him up.

Cash in and lose the wages. Good keeper but no more then that and I would argue equally good keepers about who will be cheaper

Exactly, if McCarthy was a first team player do you think we still would've lost him?

My Old Man played golf a week or so ago with Rob Green's Dad. The fact they are a similar level means Rob Green's Dad is useless at golf.

From speaking to him though he said Greeno ( Not sure where he lives ) is really settled and has just got his lad into a local school after a bit of a battle apparently. Also said he is perfectly happy at QPR. Which after posting this means he will no doubt sign for West Ham, move house and me look silly.

Regards keepers coming in I'm not sure why we balked at Southend wanting more then a mil for Bentley but could find the 2 mil for smithies... Strange decision... Ideally get both and let them fight it out
