  • Scouting?

Can anyone enlighten me about our scouting system or policy? Or know anything about how the club runs it? I know CR says what he needs and LF 'goes and gets it' so to speak but when we sign, even on loan, someone like Paul Konchesky at 34 you start to think surely there is literally no decent scouting system in place.

How does one find a potential player in Chery from Holland and then comes back with Konchesky and Best a week or 2 later.

There is not one better left back cover that a 34 year has been??

    Bizarre.... like QPR!

I agree that Konch was a poor signing from the outside but i kind of get it. Look at it where the the club is coming from: They have 2 injury prone lb's, a young up and commer that cant play a full season and then Robinson who i often forget is even at the club. Konch over the years hasn't had many injuries, was a fairly decent defender back in his day, and once the other blokes are fit will surely not be starting and will presumably provide advice to the younger blokes and set a good example on the training pitch. Your bring up the point that there are multiple other options that we could have signed, however i believe that the club thinks that they can get at least one of Kpekawa, Yun and Robinson to be and absolute star in the coming years, meaning there is no need to bring in a bloke that may potentially ruin the potential of those blokes, and rather opt to bring in a bloke that can guide them through the season on presumably low wages.

Not sure why you'd want Konch to provide advice and coaching to the young lads. Clint can do that. He was a LB for many years after all.
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

Agree let's go and sign champions league winners and internationals like Cesar, Granero, Samba, Park etc as that's a winning formula

Like most things at the club it will take time to fix. From the mess that was Mike Riggs and his magic book that could tell everything about a player. To Harry and his collection of players that are just past their peak. We will get there once this season is over we won't be building the whole team all over again. We will be picking a few players to strengthen the team

so you suggest we dont bring in anyone, wear our Kpekawa, end up using Clint on the left, move hall into the middle and not have any cover...Actually that sounds quite good.

i don't understand people who knock the scouting, i for one had never heard of - Chery, Massimo, Gladwin, Poulter, hall and probably a few others before we had signed them and i think the general consensus is that all of these will be decent enough players for us.

Agree with the poster above who said no point in signing a left back who will demand a starting place week in week out as we have a number of youngsters who will need game time there to improve.
