  • Just to put things into perspective..

So after a whopping 2 games (3 if you count Yeovil in the cup) some of our fan base are already growing restless and calling for the head of Chris Ramsey(I'm not one of them for the record).

Our record so far in competitive fixtures reads W1-D1-L1. Granted the win was a cup game, and against a pathetically poor side in Yeovil, it was a win none the less.

Most would always argue that the 10 game mark is usually a fair assesment of how you are doing/going to do in the league. It's enough time for players to settle into a new team, be comfortable with how the manager wants them to play, and points wise, usually determines if your going to struggle or not.

I wondered how the 3 promoted teams started last season to get an idea if an undefeated start was essential for promotion or if it was still possible to have a bit of a crap start but still push on and get promoted.

I wish i had the time and effort to do this for every team that was in the championship last season but alas, I dont. This will have to make do in the meantime:

    Bournmouth:
    W-3
    D-3
    L-4

    Watford:
    W-6
    D-2
    L-2

    Norwich:
    W-6
    L-2
    D-2

I think Bournmouth's start looks the most interesting considering they went on to be crowned champions. In contrast to their poor start, Watford and Norwich started pretty strongly showing promotion form from the off.

I'm sure there are examples of teams from last season who started off brilliantly in their 1st 10 that then went on to finish mid table (Forrest) or alternatively started off poorly and ended up finishing mid table (Birmingham) or pushing for playoffs.

The fact is, Ramsey needs to be given time. As do the team before we start writing them off as being crap signings. Forget last season. The damage was done when Ramsey was thrust into the caretaker role. It also wasnt his team. This is. These are his signings and the squad we end up with after the transfer window will be his doing. THEN, after 10+ games, can he really be judged.

Until then, pipe down and get behind the lads.
