  • Playing Style?

Was alarmed to see our back 4 launching it forward to Austin at every opportunity... Actually I was raging rather than alarmed.

I thought we were playing attacking, fluent football this season?... It was like watching last season without Zamora on the pitch in parts on Saturday.

What HAS improved? I thought we were playing dynamic football with younger players but it looks like we have purchased two full backs that are inept at playing the football along the ground to feet. I would never of put them down as Ramsey signings to be honest, listening to the bloke talking at the end of last season about how we were going to progress as a club! I wouldn't mind, if we were at least trying to play football from the back.

Two games or twelve games in, i dont care... I'm extremely disappointed at the look of the team, we look like we dont know what to do when we have the ball. Unless Chery is on the ball we dont create anything.

Very disappointed and feel like it is going to be a LONG old season... Fear for us on Weds night at Wolves. Could be 3 or 4 i feel.
And dont expect many more players in before the end of the transfer window...

When you are being played off the park at home there is not much choice

I'm still struggling to work out what our style was / is if I'm honest.

I expected a better format or way we would play football since relegation but in the same sense a lack of quality in areas. So whilst we would play better football it wouldn't always work.

What I saw on saturday was a huge drop in any sort of idea about how we are going to play. Was a bit of a shock considering we still had phillips and austin on the pitch two players who shined last season. We was 2nd best all day saturday and only when cardiff went for it did we really open them up and get a couple of chances.

Said it before and said it after the game. Ramsey needs to drop the idea about getting 'nice attractive football' for the first couple of games. We are in massive transition. Play to the strengths of the available players you have and get results. Reality is nobody knows what our team will look like come september, so you can't really plan to play a certain style with players who will be leaving. The formation was never going to work austin can't play lone striker. Get the players fitter and look defensively solid. Then look to get something going forward. Was frustrating to see the lack of idea throughout the midfield and attack on saturday. nobody knew what the plan was to beat cardiff.
Soldier: "im on reconnaissance sir.. im looking for our camouflage expert.. have you seen him?"
          Lovejoy: "No?!"
Soldier: "GOD DAMNIT THAT GUYS GOOD!"

This is exactly what i mean Jimmy... No one had a clue what they were meant to be doing when they had the ball. There was now regaining and containing of possession.. No keeping the ball for so many passes and then plotting an attack. I thought we looked weak and short of ability.

Not sure what game you were watching?

38% possession vs 62% at home!

I would be disappointed with these stats even if we were playing Man Utd at home let alone Cardiff.

We made them look like Barcelona

Charlie Austin needs a big man up front to help him which is why we should be paying two up top! If all we are going to do is hoof the ball up top then we are just inviting the opposition to attack us.

Your statement of Cardiff having the possession effects us having possession and playing football the right way is rubbish. If the other team contains possession well for a match, it doesnt automatically mean you lump it long all game.

Playing style? QPR don`t do playing style anymore.
On a serious note though, I think the one and only player who is responsible for that (coz surely Ramsey doesn`t want to play that way) IS.....Hill.
Every time he has it all he looks to do is hit it up field and hope he finds the forward and most of the time he doesn`t.
I know most people love the guy and won`t hear a bad word against him but the quicker he is dropped or starts trying to find a PASS with an easy ball the better.
For such an experianced player his distribution is awfull.
I like the guy for sticking around and he has a great attitude towards the game and obviously loves the club, but, time to use as a sub only for me.

This is partly it mate... We have two centre backs who cant play football. Neds is a great stopper and centre half but he needs a ball player alongside him.
Neither Hill or Neds are blessed with good feet/technical aspect of the game.

Cardiff only had so much of the ball cause all we did when we got it was lump it up to Austin and give it straight back to them. Thankfully they are a poor side so despite having so much of the ball they didn't turn that into chances/goals. Other teams won't be so generous.

Really wouldn`t be suprised if we lose the Cheif soon, surely a few managers would have seen his performance on Saturday and will make enquiries.
Hall has to get a game soon I feel, I know he`s untested but it`s worth the risk.

Hard and probably not fair to dig any one player out on Saturday. The whole team had a #### game, proper pi$$ poor, where 90mins was full to the brim of school boy errors (love to know the stats for every individual player loosing possession??)..... As for style- get the ball panic, get the ball panic, get the ball panic.....

Thought Polter done a fantastic bambi on ice impression for the 10mins he was on (that aside actually think he'll come good).... Austin HAS TO HAVE another striker with him.... Koncheski a lot worse than I thought... Phillips was bang average... really liked Chery... Luongo looks promising... Also thought Gladwin done alright.

                              4.4.2 please against Wolves!
                              SIR LESLIE FERDINAND!!
