  • R we as good as Pete build us up to be?

    I would stay no.
It would be interesting to hear other people's views.
The league table doesn't tell any lies.
Pete is convinced we will finish in the top 6 but I struggle to work out his reasons for this. I am not being negative before I get slated. I really am just giving my honest opinion on where I see QPR at the end of the season.
Lets discuss the squad. Simpson is a good signing but who partners him without an additional signing? Vine? No he is off form and the serious injury he has has definately destroyed his confidence. This is a player who when fit last season was out BEST player and that includes when Buzz was also playing well. Who else do we have Ayemang? No he has done nothing in pre season to say he deserves any kind of chance and he looks like he has lost a yard of pace. Balanta? No not ready just yet. He could become a good player but we already have 1 rookie in Simpson so can't afford another. Tarrabt well for me he isn't a striker and has a very poor technique when it comes to striking a ball. He should be on the wing as his game is about beating players not scoring goals. Yes it is all very obvious the all my concerns are with a centre forward. I think bringing in a player like King would be ideal or someone that can bully defenders. When the weather is like how it is today we will struggle against spolier teams like sheff utd etc. I really think the bad weather will have a big effect on this current side. I just hope I am completely wrong on this occassion however I will win money regarding blackstock. I have decided with the 5 pounds I win for every goal under 15 I would like to donate all my winnings to SM1882 for his great match reports and loyalty.
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

From what I have seen this season the truth is in the middle on our day we can match anyone in this division as we have shown against Cardiff and Newcastle.

Still think we need a new left back and for Rowan Vine to find his form.

we can match anybody but we arent clinical enough.

        Lovejoy: "No?!"
Soldier: "GOD DAMNIT THAT GUYS GOOD!"

First 11 is good enough (just), the squad in places isnt.

          6th -10th depending on injuries.

I think we are a striker and a left back away from being as good as Pete say we are!

No we're not ...this is Rangers after all! ...historically we have always shot ourselves in the foot as we did Sat ...just when things were looking up we implode at Swansea ...no Watson & Rowlands against as decent Preston now ...not looking good ...if we lose that the knives will be out for JM again!

As you say the table doesn't lie!

You're only as good as your last game...lol.

After the Newcastle game - there was a lot of euphoria with the fans...and why not. What this club needs is stability on and off the pitch as i feel as Mutley has said above..11-15 players--are good enough. However we now lose watson and Rowly - which means our back up midfield falls short.Faurlin's progress is good - but if we go back to Legs and mahon i feel our performances will reflect that.

On our day - with our best starting 11...we can and will beat anyone in this league. But untill we can shift some of our excess baggage players,we will continue to make slow progress.Hopefully fans may recognise this and give Jim a wide berth and let him build on what he has done.No point in shouting at the manager...He can only work on what he has accuired and what he is allowed to bring in.I also assume that things going on behnidnthe scenes are not helping him much either...

Well pete is a QPR fan and like many fans believes that this year could be our year. There isn't anything wrong with that and he isn't actually far wrong in thinking we have a good competitive side. Many peoples views on QPR are completely subjective, but thats what football is all about.

Realistically though 7th to 10th is probably our range ATM, I also beleive that magilton will need a couple of seasons to work with the side and to install what he wants and expects from his team. That isn't a bad thing as most top 8 sides in all leagues have had their manager for at least 2 years, where ours is only a few months. He can't turn water into wine overnight.

Also half the players are not ours and all top sides have a top striker, its very rare that a side can win promotion without this. Simpson is only a stand in like watson so there is plenty more to do and add come the summer.

Finally, I agree with pete's comments that we are good quality side with a lot of potential, certainly better than last season, but, me being a realist I don't quite think we are there just yet, it will be very interesting to see if we buy watson and maybe a couple more quality players come the summer then I think we will be a table topping team come 2010/11 season... :-)

VBlock, I think if we sign a decent striker and a left back in January as well as securing Watson for the remainder of the season, we will make the play offs. If we don't sign anyone I think we will fall short.

Simple reality is we should not have sold Blackstock, he has scored what 6 already this season for Forest and those goals for us would have come in handy.

Its the style of football, that I am enjoying and see us doing well this season. We wouldn't want injuries to key players and need a striker to fiil the boots of Vine, who has been disappointing. Forget needing a left back, the kid Borrowdale gets stick just for the sake of it and hasn;t done anything wrong. We will have ups and downs, but you would have to be extremely negative to believe come january we will be far off the pace. That month will be crucial and the buys at the time will probably dictate where we finish.

These last few games have convinced me, that if we maintain this kind of form a Top 6 position is practically a formality. The tendency to play poorly against so called lesser teams is a big worry though.

Pete as Sir Pie is not online to correct you once again he has scored 3 in 11 league games. I am suprised you got it so wrong considering you will be paying me 5 pound for every goal under 15. Like I said Pete my winnings go to SM1882 if/when I win the bet.

Your forgetting the cup games and he has not played in 11 league games.

Guess its convenient for you to so.
