  • For Christs sake sort out the defence

The back 4 yesterday was shocking. We need it sorted with a couple of quality signings. Clint Hill was gone 3 seasons ago!!!

We've signed Hall but Ramsey basically said he's not good enough for the first team yet, maybe sign someone who is please?????

Ramsey also said last week that he doesn't want to call on Clint Hill to play every week as well.
We need another CB that's for sure, what have we done with the £1.2 million we got from Southampton to have Caulker?

With the FFP fine very minimal like 8 million i don't see no reason why we won't have abit of dough to spend.

The problem is that we should have been building our squad last January but instead we messed about with Harry anf ended up in our current situation. Now we need to spend or be happy with what we've got.

Spunked it on Perch. Ramsey already said we have no money until we sell a few.
We couldn't even raise an extra 500k for the Southend keeper.

3 weeks ago Ramsey said we needed to bring in a new defence, but doubted the money would be available for it to happen.
7 days ago after Hall played against Atalanta, Ramsey said in an interview that he may be looking to sign Hall but would maybe be for the future and wouldn't be someone we could just stick in the Centre Back role.

Yet, we pay a fee for him (no idea what that fee was, but it's still money spent on a defender that's not rated good enough yet).
He's 23 years old and not ready yet to play in the Championship!!

Huh???? What game were you watching, fella???? Not the same as me. Clint and Ned were solid. Neither made a mistake. Perch could have done better for the first and Phillips tracked back better for the second bit all our problems came further up the field.

Agree first line of defence (midfield) offered no resistance for first

Thought Ned and Hill handled their big lump up top comfortably

The point is Hill should be on the subs bench, we need to get first team CB's in and not touch it unless injuries.

This swapping and changing does no good for the squad. If we don't sort out our defence soon, it will be one long season.

Our shape is all wrong. We've been too easy to score against for best part of two years. Defence must take some of the blame but I do feel they are left very exposed by the strange system we play. We need to hunker down and get back to basics...... Start being solid and hard to breakdown, stop conceding and get some clean sheets. Might be dull to watch but most teams are pretty ordinary in this league and will give us a chance to score, we don't need to push or press, just wait for the chance they present to us and take it. Basically we need some boring 1-0s built on patience and sticking to a plan. Wholesale change of personnel is unnecessary and unlikely now anway- organise what we have got is the answer.

that's a worry to me too, a 23 year old not ready for the Championship. Meanwhile, a 16 year old struts his stuff down the 'ammers
I must away now, I can no longer tarry

I thought defence was ok. First goal was down to green and 2nd was midfield not closing left full back down.

To be honest, I'm a bit disappointed that for the 3rd season running we've ended up with a poorly balanced squad despite having the time and resources to put together the right squad. We've signed god knows how many midfielders yet we are light up top and thread bare at the back. I really don't understand how we can be left saying there isn't any money left in the pot when we've signed all of these midfielders. Chery looks like a good prospect but did we really need him? Would the squad not have been better without Chery and with a decent quality centre half added to the squad?

I'm guessing we've been caught out as we would have expected a few more to have left by now but it really is pretty poor from Les, Ramsey and the board!
