  • Out of shape players

In this day and age, it is completely and totally unacceptable for players to be overweight.

There is no excuse for the players. They are professional footballers and it is a job requirement to be in top condition, whatever else may be going on in their lives.

There is no excuse for the club. A playing weight should be established for each player and they should be weighed weekly. Any player who is overweight gets fined a specified amount per pound over, weekly. Nobody could complain at that policy, it would be perfectly reasonable as it is part of a player's job to stay in top condition. You just need the club to be well run to implement it.

The club needs to sort this out. It seems to keep coming up for us and there is no excuse.

Exactly, well said ! I mentioned this in another post. There is absolutely no excuse, it's disgraceful, so let's stop making excuses for them.

Considering the amount pro footballers get paid, staying fit and under weight should be the bear minimum expected.

Wouldn't like to say on yesterdays performance, probably Austin, looked bulky to me... But over the last few years I'd struggle to name many players fit enough for 90 minutes anywhere in our squad.

Can only think of a few in recent times that physically looked overweight, but they definitely look out of shape I agree. I've said loads watching Rangers live, we never look first to a stray ball, never sharper than the opposition, just seem to be second best, a lot.

We always look so poor last 20 minutes as well. How many points have we thrown away at the death the last 3/4 years. Really need to be addressed. No excuse for unfit pro's.

Exactly, that was the original point being made and I doubt many can argue that not to be the case, altho' to be fair we know some players do not fall into that category. Thing is you need everyone on the team to be ready to play, both physically and mentally or the team will probably struggle. There can't be any passengers ! We do most certainly appear to have an ongoing issue with this ?

Our fitness has been a serious issue for years . It's pretty basic stuff , part of our problem stems from these mickey mouse pre season tours we seem to be persisting with . It's unacceptable

Thing is its so easy to rectify. Had our sunday league side running 5k and 10k road races in pre-season and we started the year like a train. #### knows what we're up to on the training field.

My thoughts exactly, Austin looks heavy but he is a few weeks behind everyone else and has only played one pre season game

Last season Kranc and Taarabt, Austin looking chunky at times, Philips and Onuoha looking like they stepped off the stage off Mr Universe. Redcrapp moaning in October our players not fit, endless last minute goals conceeded. When does it end??

Was gob smacked to see Charlie in the starting line up, was never gong to be fit in the short time he has returned. Sadly I believe he was stuck in to be on show to potential buyers and good news he didn't shine. He will obviously get back to his best but not for a few games, started poorly last year and missed a pen

Yeah that's last season i was talking of yesterday , i give you Adel and Nico they looked very heavy, in fact Adel looked chunky in pre season this summer for Benfica and was dragged off a couple of times, that's up to the individual to be professional, and believe me they do get fined for being over weight , but i was talking of yesterday apart from Austin ( who is well short of pre season)
