The reason Terry has not been replaced is because he's the best CB in the country, year after year. Grit, determination etc etc will get you so far (Barton) Quality and talent is what keeps you there.Top Scorers 2018/2019

I had a feeling I'd get dug out for the JT comparison.
Look, I'm not saying that Hill is as talented as Terry, or even as important for us as he is for Chelsea. I was simply making the comparison that they have certain qualities that are a prized commodity in modern football, and shouldn't be taken for granted. Sure, we could easily find a player more technically gifted / with a higher profile than Clint, but as the last few years has proven, building a football team is rarely as simple as that.
The fact that we are once again a Championship club negates everyone's general dismissal of Hill's abilities / age as well. Let's be honest, you don't have to be at the absolute top of your game every week in this division, as opposed to the PL. The best striker he'll face this season is probably Jordan Rhodes, who in fairness to him isn't Sergio Aguero or Diego Costa. Knowing that you won't be facing a World Class striker every week must make a huge difference psyhcologically to a veteran defender. It also means that against lesser sides, we can chop and change - and give him a rest. Will he be our first choice CB for the entire season? Absolutely not. Will he do a decent job when called upon? He always does.Last edited by surrey_hoop; 07-08-2015, 12:13 PM.

You could make the same argument about John Terry and Chelsea - they've spent 20x what we have in the last decade, but they've never found anyone to replace him....when it comes down to it, passion, commitment and desire are not just buzzwords - they still mean something in football.
We tried going down the route of signing apparently talented players, and it didn't work. Why? They didn't give an Eartha Kitt about the club.
Keep writing Clint off, and he'll keep proving you wrong.

As for the avatar I hadn't even noticed and can't be bothered to change it.

As for the avatar - I noticed and it needs changing.Last edited by surrey_hoop; 07-08-2015, 01:07 PM.

Clint Hill IS QPR, as far as I'm concerned -- his attitude, his class, his commitment to the team. Everyone gets it -- we're trying to find more CBs and we will, so Clint is used more sparingly, selectively on the field (which we'll need now that we're back to the 46-game Championship season). In fact, I'm in favor of an all-out competition for spots on our back line to find out which players are able, willing to bring it. The more the better.

If there were ever two players who I would use to directly describe what this club stands for, it would be Ale and Clint. Thorough professionals through and through. They bleed for the club and do everything for the club and that is a hugely valuable commodity in football these days. As for whether he should start, he himself knows he can't do the full season regularly but I have absolute faith he could easily deal with quite a few of the so called 'big strikers' the championship has to offer."What stats allow you to do is not take things at face value. The idea that I trust my eyes more than the stats, I just don't buy that because I've seen magicians pull rabbits out of hats and I know I just know that rabbit's not in there." - Billy Beane
