I'd be well happy with that he's a quality keeper. #### Southend if they want us to pay over the odds.

What do Southend want ?
Hull offered £1m last season, declined. I thought we'd offered up to £1.6m, but elsewhere it suggests we only offered £950k. If so, I can see why they turned us down. There's always a compromise. Offer £1.5m plus £500k if we get promoted & £500k if he gets a full England cap whilst on our books.

How much would Smithies cost ? And which keeper is better ? Bentley is 3 years younger and a fraction taller. That's all I know.

Smithies is one of the best keepers in the league he's 25 now. Bentley I haven't really seen play but heard he could be a monster of a keeper. Only thing is doubt if either of them would want to come as cover for Greeno. I couldn't say who's better tbh as I've never seen Bentley. Fair enough, although I wouldn't call us 'desperate' - We have 2 and 1 has been in the last 3 England squads. Desperate is when he gets injured IMO.

But I'd assume Smithies would cost something similar ? more than £1m, probably £1.5m, although both Huddersfield & Southend will try for £2m as soon as they hear "Hello, QPR here....."

I'd take either and let natural selection determine who is 1st choice and for how long. I doubt though, we actually spend again until we raise some cash from the sale of Austin, Phillips, Fer or Sandro.

Totally agree it is just plain stupid that after 5 games your team could be ripped apart.....and I think we can all see it coming, Austin, Green, Phillips and Fer all going by September 1st. There is absolutely no justification for it and why it can't be changed to July 31st I do not know.

Exactly. Game is run for the convenience of players, agents, administrators and TV executives. Clubs last and fans least.
