Me too but I don't want us to finish bottom half, I'd like to get to the play off's and then build on that the year after. We got promoted to early last time and it cost us.

The players need at least two seasons together, then watch them.

I think this is not so simple. What if we had stayed another year in the Championship with all those high earners, poor players Hughes signed? That could have cost us even more.

Hope we have 2 seasons in the Championship, stabilise, get back to being normal, prepare ourselves properly on and off the pitch, and then go for a promotion push.

Well, you shouldn't be. Let's face it, TF and co. have made their fair share of mistakes, certainly enough of them for some people to be sceptical. But being negative all the time, just for the sake of it, gets to everybody. Hence all the in-fighting.

The new dawn turned into a nightmare and administration.
He too was keen on spending money, and hired a coach to manage the team (Houston).
He spent on Slade Peacock Spencer Harper Rose Morrow and Sheron only to see the team fail. Then when money got tight changed he started selling players and buying cheap rubbish instead Kulcscar Scully Dowie Keith Rowland Breaker etc. He also hsd plans for a new stadium. After that he withdrew his funding altogether and put the club into admin. We havent got to the end part yet, but does it sound familiar?
I then spent 14 years of watching the team get relegated win pronotion and an almost annual relegation fight before finally Warnock arrived and delivered a team worth watching again.

Surely you know the majority of serious business gets done towards the end of the window? Remy was a good example last season. Players and agents wait to see what offers come in. Clubs wait to see who might be available. That will tell you why Charlie and Fer are still with us.

Still a long way to go in the transfer window. I'm positive we'll get more defenders and strikers. Then we'll have a better idea how things might go after a couple of months. No need to give up when the season's not even started.

And Chelsea boosting their squad at the last minute really helped QPR didn't it. Whos to say Austin wont also go at a late stage. This is why QPR SHOULD sign Austins replacement sooner rather than later.
By the way there are a lot of similarities between the current board and that of Chris Wright's and those of us supporting QPR then know how that panned out.

Exactly, but I bet a lot of those happy positive posters didn't go through those days or if they did they were just out of nursery.
They seem to think that this will be a season of consolodation and then progress up to winning promotion within 5 seasons and then be in a better position to stay up.

The reasons why they went down last season include Redcrapp not being bothered to try and attack teams away from home, choosing to hope that Remy would stay rather than replace him , a lousy pre season (like this seasons), then Fernandes not sacking Redcrapp and replacing him with Pulis. It had nothing to do with going up too soon.

You weren't the only one to suffer through those 14 years stan.

I'm optimistic because I like the new direction we are taking and from what I have read it seems as though we have signed some good players. Not to mention: Austin, Fer, Phillips - all still here (and icing on the cake - Caulker gone)! Regardless, I'm going to just wait and see how things shape up when we start kicking the ball in anger and not make myself miserable worrying about the worst case in the meantime.

And let's not forget: Warnock didn't exactly set the transfer world alight in turning us from relegation battlers into Champions, did he: Kenny, Mackie, Derry, and Hill, were the key signings IIRC and the pessimists on this board were having a field day back then too!

The Championship as a league strengthens as each season passes. It's a tough league to get out of, and those who do struggle to stay in the top flight. A couple of years in the Championship to build a strong side wouldn't hurt us. We need that stability before we even think about attacking the Premier League again.

Brilliant post . I also experienced the dark days , worrying if there would even be a club to support anymore . Watching us getting turned over 5-0 at ####ing Wimbledon (remember them ?) . Don't just assume that because some of us are actually looking forward to this season that we must be happy clappers either . I'm positive because the signs are that the club realise that they have made a pigs ear out of it and are at least trying to run it more efficiently . It seems that no matter what they do people are going to moan so each to their own . Do I expect to get promoted ? No . Do o expect we will see a more committed , United and organised team this season ? Yeah I do and that's what we've all been crying out for isn't it ? Getting a squad together that's capable of competing in the prem is going to be a long hard slog but look at Southampton . Look at Swansea . Two great examples where if you get it right from the bottom up anything is possible . Rome wasn't built in a day
