what it actually shows is something different though... it shows that the top team in the premiership receives about 150% of the tv income of the bottom team, while the same ratio is 250% in germany, 400% in france, 450% in italy and 1150% in spain. essentially... as uncompetitive as the premiership is, its finances at least allow it to be far more competitive than any of the other leagues.
big news for fans of french/german/italian football - when you go on holiday, no matter where you go, it's not difficult to find a pub/bar that shows premiership football. it is, however, quite difficult to find pubs/bars showing french/german/italian football (unless you are actually in france/germany/italy). that's life... get used to it.

Punters here get skinned by Sky and BT, paying outrageous prices that wouldn't be tolerated anywhere else, and the Prem has the best global marketing of the top leagues.
Funny thing is our teams repeatedly get shown up by their European counterparts, there's truly more money than sense over here.
The unpredictability of the Prem and lesser emphasis on tactics makes it popular, but also means our teams mostly can't/don't dominate in European competitions.
