Pretty sure they have brought him in for back up as they are going for that Van Dyk from Celtic too

They're definitely relegated then, he's worse and lazier than caulker

Caulker will be back-up for all the cup games against small teams in Europe they'll have to play this season.

How is this a great deal? Southampton have got shed loads of cash, we could of sold him to West Brom for 5 million and got a decent replacement with that. What can you get with 1.3 mil? You really think Southampton will sign him for 8 mil next season your having a laugh. Is that circus music I hear playing?

The only caveat being that we urgently need a decent replacement - so perhaps I'll hold back on congratulating the club until we see what's being done about that.

                It's a good deal, because:

                - he hasn't been that good
                - he's probably on a lot of money
                - we are now getting all of that paid for a year + 1.3 million fee
                - we have the opportunity to further improve the clubs finances by replacing with a decent defender at a much lower cost
                - within the coaching system @ Southampton he may well be able to improve - and then come back to us an improved player
                - if he has a good season with Southampton his value will not decrease - it may go up (reducing, or even completely removing the possible loss on the £8 we initially shelled out if we then decide to sell him)

...the caveat being, of course, IF we can find someone.

If we can't.....then it's not such a good deal. Lot of if's , obviously...

Caulker is a rotten, s hit player who'll be terrible at Soton. But we can't go into a season with only two CBs. And no decent RB and one ordinary LB. Its f acking nuts. Everyone one on here knows how poor we are at the back. What on earth are the management playing at???

Thanks Snaxo, you did the explaining for me lol.
As you say, it becomes a good deal if we get in a couple of good enough replacements. Which shouldnt be hard given that Caulker is sh!te.

Probably nobody. Thing is Ramsey will probably want to play Ned right back, so who will play next to Clint in the middle? F ack Caulker anyway. Useless player. The error at Hull sums the t osspot up.

BBC are reporting that there is no fee.

                                I do not understand this
