We will be in the top 6 come May and Swansea will be in the bottom 6.
This game was for the taking and Yes Swansea were poor, but this game changed on the sending offs and Rowlands in particular who should have known better. First half was pretty even, with Nathan Dyer a constant threat and despite playing one up front, Prattley was always the man in space in the middle of the park. The build up play of swansea from the back was extremely slow, but quickened as they pressed more forward. Simpson and Routledge had half chances in the first half, Buzsacky hit a terrific shot over the bar. Honours even definitely come the half time whistle.
The second half we were definitely quickest out of the blocks, forcing a world classs save from there keeper, having a header just go wide. Then the pivotal moment was around 52 minutes, Routledge finds himself free on the penalty spot and a shot to the right or left and we are 1-0 up, we turn to each other and gasp at how he missed it, by the time we look back at the game (probably less than 10 seconds later), Rowlands is diving in, as Swansea try top break away. No qualms about the sending off. I don't know if he was trying too hard, but I've not seen him dive in this season, but he did on at least 4 occasions today. After the sending off, heads dropped and it was a matter of defending the draw. It looked like we would see a 0-0 draw, but on the back stick, Buzsacky fell asleeep and there forward slotted the ball home. It took time to adjust with 10 men and we were under the cosh without looking like conceding another and starting to get back into the game, when Watson who already had been booked slipped over and pulled his hand out to stop the Swansea players attacking.
Through the season we will have games like this. I was not disappointed with the way we started the second half and if we had 11 players on the pitch, we would only have seen one winner. No doubt, we will play a team soon who will have a player sent off and we need to captalise on that. I feel that maybe this was one game too much after such demanding games at Chelsea and Newcastle. We have a two week break and 4 home games out of 6 coming up, before the next International break we need to win the majority. Our starting 11 will now have to change for the next game and it will test our strength in depth and losing two players who are leaders on the pitch, will make life difficult for the game against Preston.
