  • Not very likely but do you think it would be worth

keeping all the players we have in our squad as it stands and just going for it all out this season.

I know it would depend on whether the players like Fer, Austin etc. would want to play in this league, but not really heard anything to make you think they are trying to engineer a move away.

We have the money from Sterling and have got a lot of high earners off the wage bill plus parachute payments, so don't think financially it would be a concern.

Personally I think if we keep all of them(Austin, Fer, Phillips, Caulker, Sandro) for the season plus our new additions we should romp the league.

I would see it as a calculated gamble as the only real risk would be Austin going for free next year, but the return would be a hell of a lot more if we make it up.

    If Carlsberg made transfer windows......

That would be outstanding on the part of whoever manages the comings and goings. I doubt we'd be out of the top 2 all season if we kept them all but whilst I'd love to see it happen, I just cant see it happening....
2011-2013, 2 seasons in the Premiership, 76 games, 14 wins........two years of my life I'll never get back!!

2013/2014 mediocrity topped off with a win at Wembley....

2014/2015 was pretty much the same as 2011-2013.....

    2015/2016, average at best.....

    2016/2017, same old, same old....

    2017/2018, aim low, avoid disappointment!

Its the hope that kills you!

If we take the current squad and add maybe another fullback and another striker, it would absolutely wreck the Championship. We'd have the attacking power with Austin, Chery, Fer, and Phillips to ease in Luongo, Gladwin, and Polter. If Polter grows into his role as a holding striker he could be a better complement for Austin than Zamora ever was. Say what you will about Chief and Caulker, but they're damn good backs at this level. The chances of keeping all three of Austin, Phillips, and Fer are next to none, but I think we could keep two of the three if we try.

Sell of Sandro though. A good talent but far too inconsistent to rely on and has the makings of Taraabt if he doesn't get what he wants. I'd rather let Henry take on the defensive mid role.

Yeah, the squad as it stands today would be near unstoppable.

        If only.
i agree sell Sandro and selling McCarthy plus the Sterling money, could give QPR about 18M along with the parachute payment plus reduced wage bill could mean they stay within FFP rules and have a great chabce of winning promotion back.
If Austin was to then leave on a free next year the £120 tv money would more than make up for the loss.

I think we definitely need another right back and probably 2 centre halves before we get carried away. Definitely very light at the back still!

Financially impossible , the wage bill will have to come down or we will have another situation with the ffp, thats why 3/4 players will be sold

Just because our finances are looking healtheir than they once were, I don't think that's means keeping Austin, Fer, Sandro, Caulker and Philips (all of whom must be on 40k a week plus) is a viable option in the Championship. I would imagine that at least 2 of them will have to be sold to balance the books - the club know this, and will hold onto our assets until TDD when PL clubs become desparate and pay over the odds.

Not sure it wold be impossible, as we have got rid of a fairly hefty chunk of last year's wage bill already, and the new recruits are likely to be on much reduced salaries than we have previously paid.

I do realise that it wouldn't be sustainable long term after the parachute money has gone, but just think it would be worth a gamble for this year, as see the only real risk being Austin leaving and a potential FFP fine, but as that is such a shambles could see it being waived or massively reduced to just a token gesture.

                  there are

there are no wage bills restrictions this season

its all been changed to you must have seven brittish born players in your squad

so that neans we buy more brittish talent and sell some of our foreign imports

No you see they were all out of contract and we would have already budgeted for that and offered them a reduction in salaries (if they wanted to keep them) , it would have been up to them if they wanted to stay, so they are irrelevant in our financial wage structure this season. The players under contract still (the big earners) are the clubs problem for this year, that's probably why McCarthy will be replaced with a younger less high profile keeper (on lower salary) and thats why the Likes of Austin, Fer, Phillips, Sandro even if a bid was to come in for a Caulker the club will sell some of these players, they will have to.

OK, but still think we could deal with it for one season in a push to get up. Calculated risk, as Delboy used to say "he who dares Rodney, he who dares!"

With all those players still here, I would be very surprised if we were not in the top 2 next May.
