He got dropped from the mighty readings first team and was macaroni every time he was called on for us. And anyone who says, he had a sh ite defence in front of him, so did green and he got recalled to the england squad in a terrible season for the club. We are letting him go to palace for a reason, cos hes not good enough, nothing else. Got no hard feelings toward the bloke, but bye bye, enjoy palaces bench and when they realise, enjoy the first division. You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

We need to look at the here and now, not just the future. Green has a good three years or so and is obviously viewed by the club now as the best person between the sticks. Can understand McCarthy not wanting to warm the bench for another season. That's life. We and he move on no hard feelings.

Ermm he would crawl there on his hands and knees (just like remy did), to be made for life money wise with one contract, and to put medals galore on his c.v to tell his grandkids.

Nice to get a bit of cash back on him as well.

Originally posted by Shepherds Mush View PostYou've missed the point entirely. You questioned Green being better than McCarthy by Palace not coming in for him. Well if the Premier League Champions looking at taking Green isn't testament to his ability then I'm not sure what is.
Lets not kid ourselves, he wouldn't go there to be No.1 or even compete with Courtois, he would go there to get splinters and the occasional League cup game. Chelsea would love a cheap experienced benchsitter.

I would say Chelsea usually do well in the League and FA Cup, are usually comfortable in the Champions League early stages and add in a few PL games where Courtois is injured and a reserve team keeper there could be looking at 7-10 games easy and some at a top level.
My point is the calibre of player that Chelsea want in reserve - Green is seen as a capable reserve at that level.
