  • Potential Wage Bill

Could we deduce what our current wage bill would be at this point?

If we kept Austin, Phillips, Fer that would be roughly what? 125k per week between those 3? Austin -50k Fer - 55k Phillips - 20k

    Sandro - 80k

    Green - 50k

    Swindon boys - 25k together?

    JET - 15k?

    Toilet - 30k?

I can't think if I'm missing someone big so I'm thinking the rest of the FT squad 5k a week on average with some of these young guys not making more than 3k or so?

What I'm getting at is can we realistically afford one season of paying Fer, Phillips, Sandro and Austin one more year with FFP and what our revenues will be this year?

I am just rough estimating our weekly wage bill to still be around 225k a week. That seems pretty high for the Championship no?

Thats 117MM for the year? If someone can find a decent site that tracks our weekly wages that would be awesome.

Erm 225k a week is not £100m a year it's nearer £10m. Plus I would imagine our wage bill will still be quite a bit higher than that this year.

Over here, we tend to be a little more discreet with players earnings. I very much doubt there is anyone on here who knows what any of our players actually earn. Could be wrong, but don't trust most of the made up nonsense one finds on the net.

So you wouldnt take the 225,000 x 52 weeks? do they accrue it differently?

Yeah I found a few sites, but I didn't deem them very trustworthy. Think one site had all the players (or most) but had green at like 85k a week and charlie around that as well so I knew it couldn't be trusted.

            225k x 52 is £11.7m a year.

Oops, carried another 0 on my calculator haha. I stand corrected. What is the norm for a championship club? From an American standpoint, seems low. But I need to put into perspective that this is now a second league club.

Thats incredible to think of it. Now I've heard different things on here as to when we receive the 9MM we get from his transfer fees. Does Liverpool just send us a lump sum right after he is signed? Does Man City pay in installment plans? Because I'm sure they just don't cut a check for 50MM. I mean, really don't need it till the end of the year as long as QPR has enough liquidity to make payroll each week, which I'm sure they do haha

You've missed loads off.... Caulker, Onouha, McCarthy, Henry , Polter etc etc etc and to think the rest are on £5k.... Seriously no chance.

I'm actually doing a valuation analysis on our club as a side thing when I have free time from work, just because I'm learning about all that stuff. Been reading through our financials and if you check them out, it tells us that our wage bill of 12/13 and 13/14 for administrative staff, players, managers, coaches and support staff, commercial, marketing and retail staff, stadium and maintenance staff (164 and 169 employees for the respective years) is 68.031mil and 66.409mil. Will let you all know when I finish going through our recent years. Just as a comparison, Derby have been paying out wages for those two seasons of 10.599mil and 14.515mil for the two years and Fulham have been spending 58.551mil and 60.450mil. For the heck of it, Chelsea have been paying 151.649mil and 167.666mil for those 2 years.

Yeah it is interesting, and no sarcasm here, you should pm w5r, he likes that side of the club/game as well, and seems to know quite a bit.

hmmm... i guess i should point out that:

                            125 + 80 + 50 + 25 + 15 + 30 = 325 and that only covers the 9 players that you named

austin and philips were signed at roughly the same time, for roughly the same fees and so are probably on roughly the same wages. i read somewhere that austin earns £28k a week, so £60k should cover them both. fer, i reckon was on about £40k, so closer to £100k (before any relegation clauses kick in)

green's first contract was allegedly £50k per week, but his renewal was purportedly on reduced terms (£45k?) with a relegation clause, so probably now £40k max.

sandro won't be on £80k... closer to £60k with (allegedly) a relegation clause (so £50k max)

you missed a number of high earners (with guesses of pre-clause wages)

                            mccarthy (£30k)
                            nedum (£30k)
                            traore (£30k)
                            caulker (£35k)
                            henry (£15k)

i'd guess an average of £5k for each of the rest would be reasonable...

i think the club are now trying to cap wages at £15k a week (exceptional players maybe a bit higher, but anything above £20k now out of the question), so your guesses for most of the incomings seem about right, (mackie on maybe £15k? polter on £10k?).

working on the basis that we have a squad of roughly 25, with not-named players getting £5k, that makes the weekly wage bill, before relegation clauses about £455k a week, dropping to say £400k after relegation clauses... so about £20m a year.

the above is highly speculative and a bit subjective, but if anywhere near true, wages shouldn't be as big a problem in the immediate future and would be a massive improvement on £65m the last time we were in the championship.

Exactly what I was about to post, Onouha and Caulker are both definitely on Premier League money. In fact I've been told by somebody close to the club that Onouha's salary is that high that he would have had to take a pay cut if he had left the club this summer as none of the interested parties would have been prepared to match what we are paying him.

This whole thread is based on assumptions and very unlikely to be anywhere near accurate in terms of the actual wage bill at the club!
