Got to admit that's how I read it. I'm a McCarthy fan and can't completely get my head around this. However the fact we have green means I'm pretty relaxed as he's an outstanding keeper to have in the championship and arguably the best in the league.
If we can recruit a decent up and coming gk like the one at Southend a few have mentioned then it's not the worst thing to happen.
I do still think McCarthy will prove long term for someone to be a exceptionally good keeper.

I really rate him as he is gonna turn out to be a great keeper.
Up to him if he wants to leave if the release clause is met, but I would offer him a new improved contract to keep him here.

He can't be on huge wages, and he was rated a couple of years ago as someone that could challenge Joe Hart.
Don't forget Liverpool wanted him as well but he chose us.
Just think he is worth keeping hold of.
