Scoring isn't their primary aim. Their main job is to provide crosses into the box. That's why they play on the wing. If they score a couple, great, but scoring isn't their main job.

Always said the fella isn't that good. Would take £5million for him and think that is generous. Had many a decent debate on here with some about him. Good championship player in my opinion but he is struggling on that level on the basis of the 3 games i have seen so far.

Cannot deny his purple patch second half of last season. But if he is that good he should be producing a lot more than he has in the 3 games we have played so far. Regardless of whether he wants to play/be here, if he is as good as people say he is he should be contributing more. Never looks like beating a winger, goes missing a lot of the game and a lot of his deliveries have been hopeful balls in the box. One or two cracking crosses granted. That one on one he missed saturday was poor as well. Got to take those chances.

As i say this is just my opinion and other ones are welcome even if they are wrong when they don't agree with mine!

by this logic, players like Sterling & Hazard are useless as they havnt got an assist or goal yet this season. Absolutely clueless.

I dont think people realise how hard it is for a winger when every single time he gets the ball you expect him to beat his man and put it on a 6pence for a striker to tap in. not that simple i'm afraid.

If its tough how do you know he is in the top 2 or 3........I smell now let me see

Primary aim is to put the ball in the onion bag...........at least it used to be regardless of where you play on the pitch

Are you ok? As for your above comment, the reason it is difficult is because I have to filter through dates to find the info, but I'll come up with it proving that he is up there with the best players.

Thats bull. So would you rather a goalkeeper or a centre back score goals than concentrate on not conceding?

Here is the article that shows he was second to only messi with assists. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footba...d-only-5481135

After that time, he was overtaken by Payet and De Bruyne so he is actually 4th in europe:

Payet(15 in 20 app); Messi (12 in 22); De Bruyne (11 in 18); Phillips (9 in 17); Pastore (9 in 19); Suarez (9 in 19); Silva, Cazorla, Ronaldo, Nolito, James, Junuzovic, Muller, Hamsik, Hallfredsson (8).

There you have it. Bear in mind that these were also done in a different number of games and for phillips to have this many assists under any circumstance is incredible.

Now watch as Bill gets his panties in a twist over the fact that he is currently 4th, not 3rd in the 2015 assists table.
