Loving the about turn in feeling towards Caulker on here.

Bloke got ripped last season by the likes of Aguero, Silva and Costa no shame there and factor in we were a complete mess it wasn't really conducive to good performances. Next season with a stable ship and forwards he can dominate I think we will see a far better player.

Glad he's staying, will be immense next season and should weigh in with some goals too.

I'm prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt. Clean slate and all of that. But he was pure p iss last season. Worse than Ernie Howe ever was. His error for Hull's first at theirs is etched on my retina......

I've absolutely slated Caulker in the past but do believe that playing in the Championship will make him and that he and Ned will form a very strong partnership

Think part of his problem is he plays with his head down and has no awareness what is around him hence why he's always caught napping and beaten to the ball

Caulker is probably england's most naturally gifted young centre back when it comes to the defensive side of the game. His issue is purely focus. If he can build on that, given how fast he is and how good he is in the tackle, he will get an England cap again very soon.

There are some here that stuck up for him regardless of all the flack he was getting. Good to see changes in opinion.

With the greatest of respect mate (whilst I do quite like Caulker and have defended him on here quite a bit), that is total nonsense. There are at very very least, 5 young English CBs that are leagues ahead of Caulker in terms of defensive ability.

I have always stuck up for him. Whislt he was far from great last year and did lose his concentration for a few goals, he was nowhere near as bad as some make out. I think it was the expectation he came with tbh, people expected so much from him and when we realised he wasn't quite this incredible player we thought, we instantly jumpe don his back & slated him. Very capable defender who needs some experience and maybe even coaching on discipline and awareness, if hesorts this out he will be a steady PL CB in the future. IMO of course.

I really can't think of them. John Stones is a talented ball player but not a great tackler, Phil Jones isn't a great tackler but has fantastic focus and will do everything for the ball. Eric Dier isn't that great to be honest and Smalling is fast but not a good tackler, he just uses his height to win the ball. The only other two centre backs who might be considered in this region are Jamaal Lascelles and Luke Moore and they are both decent but not at caulker's level by any stretch. Those are the only young English Centre backs at the moment that I can think of but let me know if there are any more.

Stones, Smalling & Jones are in a totally different league to Caulker, all miles ahead (not to mention Chambers). Plus the likes of Tyler Blackett & Michael Keane who are arguably better than Caulker.

Tyler Blackett and Michael Keane? Jheeze man, I like you a lot matty but calling Keane and especially Blackett a better defender than Caulker is a bit ludicrous. Jones is overall a better footballer without a doubt and same for stones, but they are no way better tacklers than Caulker. Not by any stretch.
