Austin worth 20 Million if not more??

I am wondering why we would like Austin go for less than £15 or maybe more... If Austin scores 20 goals next season that would see us at the very least knocking on the door of playoff's? Promotion is work over £100Million?

If we let him go to replace the goals we are looking at least 8-9million?

It seems to me selling Austin could result in us not getting promotion FACT.

And replace him with? many goalscorers like Austin will cost around 10m at Championship level with no guarantee they will succeed i.e. McCormack.

That's down to the manager but I'm sure we signed Austin for £4m. Would rather a striker that wants to play for rangers than one who don't. If Austin commuted that would be fantastic but not sure what he will be like if he doesn't get his move.

I agree. Chaz wants out, but he is too nice and too smart to throw a fit our make come and get me plea s but make no mistake- he just had his best season yet and won't be wasting the best years he has left in the championship.

I'm more worried about getting him out at a price people are willing to pay than holding him and price gouging.

Being 'under contract' only seems to matter when you have shite player you can't get rid of.. E.g. SWP. If Austin wants out, he will get what he wants.

I believe he is worth at least £15m but I don't think we will get it. Being relegated, in need of a few quid and the player wants out.. Not got a lot going on our favour.

Think he is busy chilling out, having a few pints with his mates, relaxing with his partner and kid, and possibly preparing for a wedding?

Think the Telegraph piece is pure manure laid out by some of the interested clubs in a futile attempt to lower our asking price!

We should just stay firm. Worst case scenario is that he stays put, but I think a lot of clubs will be desparate for his signature come deadline day. We do not have to sell him, you know.

My view, Chaz will still be with us next season.
If we don't budge on the £15million any clubs that were interested will be looking elsewhere as time goes on as will need to get there squad sorted for the start of season.
Can't see anyone paying what we want when they can get him on a free next season.

What I don't understand is players like SWP and Barton and others on upwards of £60k but Austin is on £28k.

When he was banging in the goals last year, why didnt we offer a quick one or two year extension plus increase his salary to say £50k considering we pay others who have done a lot less a lot more. This could have been done under radar in preparation for the inevitable summer auction for him.
I think Luke Young for us was on £35k pw

It might not have resulted in him staying but other clubs seem to have systems in place for prized assets to go at their maximum price but we always seem to fail making any money on players or we go to the other extreme of having players we don't want staying due to contracts no other club can match.

Just think £15m for a young England striker with premiership experience and success is far too low, when Spurs and Liverpool seem to have no trouble in splashing out on unknown foreign players for £30m.
