  • Caulker and Fer

For me these are the interesting two. Charlie we will almost definitely lose. Caulker and Fer, unless they have release clauses, we could potentially keep.

They both want to play at the highest level which is fair enough. However Caulker had a poor season and even if he has a relegation release clause will clubs pay it? Say same level as at Bardiff, circa £8m, is anyone going to pay that? If they are I'd say thank you very much. I could see clubs going up to around the £4m mark but at that price personally I'd keep him and see if he can be developed. Still young and we are chronically short at the back. I actually think would help him more as a player to spend a season with us in Championship than another season of struggle with Premiership relegation candidates which are likely destinations.

Fer slightly more difficult. Impressed me but had his share of time on treatment table. Think he would probably command anything £5m to £8m. Certainly at lower end of that would keep him as could be one of best players in the division if played in right position and stays fit.

No point keeping unhappy players but at same time unless finances dire, which we are told they are not, we need to start keeping our better players if we can. Not heard anything bad attitude wise about these two so maybe they would play nicely and knuckle down if they don't leave on a deal that suits the club and have to stay.

With a European Championship coming up next year, I'm 100% certain that Fer will be looking for top flight football somewhere in Europe next season!

Hope it works out better for him than it did for Remy.

If we get anything near money back for caulker then I would take it. Otherwise he will be an asset in the championship and possibly the reality check he needs

Totally agree. In fact, I would have been perfectly happy to let him stay at Cardiff or go elsewhere and us not sign him last summer. Was nowhere near good enough for the PL and being thrown into another struggling side was never going to change things. Unfortunately, the bloke that wanted to sign him, was just as inept at his job.

              Well said.

If somebody fancies stumping up the £8m we paid then I won't shed any tears getting him off the wage bill, but if not, why would we take a hit? He signed a contract, he is young & a reality check may ground him a bit and make him put his head down.
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

He has been touted as a future England cb for a few years now and he's still pretty young, maybe it's got to his head and a season in the champ may do his career and us the world of good. On the other hand 8 mill and he's not our problem anymore

I`d keep Caulker (he can`t be that bad again) the Championship will toughen him up and IMO that`s all he really needs, well maybe not all.
As for Fer i`d sell to whoever wants him, I just don`t think his style is anywhere near suited to the championship and could see nearly every game passing him by,
don`t get me wrong I quite like him but he`s a bit of a luxury type that wont get stuck in and do the dirty part of the game, think he would be well suited to Swansea.

Funny midgey because I see fer's physicality as one of his main attributes. I suppose it depends on what position you see him most suited, I see him as a CAM, behind the striker

I cant agree ! Caulker would be anything other than a liability in any league I don't doubt his ability but his game is riddled with poor concentration lack of awareness and school boy errors he's 24 yeah that's young but he's had professional coaching for over 10 years in my view he's a good player that has reached his level due to the criticisms above .
On the other hand in Fers case I could see him staying if he had a guaranty from the Dutch manager he would still be considered for the Euro's playing in the Championship imo the Dutch know football well enough to know a good player where ever he is playing

Caulker is awful, move him on and cut our losses.

Fer I would expect to get what we paid last year as the bare minimum. Very good player, would help almost any side and I hope he stays in the Prem.

This, i agree. I think Fer would be brilliant in the Championship. But he won't want to play there with the Euros next year.

Agree ginge. That is why he Will leave this summer not because he won't be effective in the championship. IMO he would tear that league apart

Fer wanted out of Norwich when they went down, can't see why he would stay there with us.
