Agree Dave. The last thing we need is this dragging on until late august and possibly deadline day and not being able to bring in a replacement in time.
When it looked as if there would be a bidding war fans were saying "he is worth what the market is prepared to pay." Well this has been going on for a good couple of weeks now and it seems pretty clear that no club is prepared to pay 15m for him.
Express is only outlet claiming Newcastle has offered 14m. Given Newcastle's approach to transfers it wd be a major surprise if Ashley offers that much. Other outlets consistently saying no offer received.
As for setting a deadline, dream on. We more or less did that with Remy and he still left. Power with the player these days and cant see Tony in the new climate wanting Austin to see out his contract and go on a free. He will want a decent fee and then expect Les and Ramsey to find the next Austin for a lot less.
QPR likely have a poor reputation in football for transfer business. If Austin had 2 years on his contract the club could hold firm but with just a year left, clubs will low ball on Austin and know they'll probably succeed with QPR. IMO he gone for about 12M with some add-ons in there and the gaining club will be getting an absolute steal. The add-ons might be where QPR benefit long term in Austin is the goal scorer I think he is.

Remy had a buy out clause mate. It was met, therefore he went.
Charlie doesn't, but giving a figure and a deadline of Sunday, would in effect have created on, along with a time frame.
If it wasn't met, then he stays and we prepare for the new season with him and finish with another promotion.
If anyone seriously thinks chaz will play one single game for us in the championship again they are horribly mistaken! He's gone, like remy was and people kept saying we should just keep him and force him to play
