What's the signing on fee if he stays? His agent must be stupid if he wants his cut of nothing.

He's 4 years younger, isn't in the last year of his contract and has much more to his game. Austin's a classic no. 9 whereas Kane can create chances as well as finishing them.

agree with that but for the rest of the match most teams would prefer Kane because of his all round game.

and can play the lone striker role as well as other attributes. Austin is an immense finisher/goalscorer but is lacking elsewhere. This isnt a conspiracy against Austin by all other teams its just the consensus

Come on Brighton do you really think we would pay him a signing on fee and lose him for nothing next summer or a bigger drop in price if he goes next January ', And to think an agent cant work out a brown envelope for getting 5m off his price is being naïve

Ok let's play devils advocate and say he's not in last year and has 3years left is he suddenly worth another £15-20mil?? Kane is just as untried or new at this level as Austin!! Kane is not £20mil pounds better then Austin

Better all round game Kane yep would agree with that but I like my strikers to score goals first and foremost and over their careers I would guess Charlie will score more

Never said anything about us paying him a signing on fee. Just pointing out that he won't be getting a signing on fee if he stays with us, so the agent would get nothing.

You surely cannot be thinking it would be better for us to accept less than our valuation in order that he benefits financially.

The most we currently stand to lose is the £4m we paid for him. Big deal. Particularly if he scores 25 goals in the Championship, which is entirely feasible. Then, if we go up again, he gets to choose if he goes, or stays where he is wanted, with the club that gave him his opportunity when others wouldn't.

No problem at all if he wants to take a chance and move now. But it needs to be done on our terms, nobody else's.

Whether we like it or not, the fact that Kane plays for Spurs and Austin plays for QPR is a big factor. They are a big club and always have been, we are little old QPR. Spurs also have a chairman with a reputation for being a shrewd businessman and driving a hard bargain. We on the other hand are known for being a soft touch in the transfer market.

No mate, neither can I in reality. But if he is going, I hope it is for the full whack and as soon as possible.

                              • Austin left two months before the end of last season. That's when he looked uninterested in our cause and gave up his hard work in our opponents box. You cannot keep a player against his will. If his heart is set elsewhere, then we're done. Adel was similar in a way. He just used the R's to put himself in the shop window and when nothing materialized, he just just gave up his commitment. I am sorry to say this, but in Austin case we may have something similar, maybe not as bad as Adel.....however, he may not be as prolific in the CCC as everyone is predicting.
