Find it interesting that it's being said he can't play a lone role and most teams play that way. Well if that's the case, why do they want him and why would he go?
    £ 15 MILL is cheap

I am sorry to say this, but in Austin case we may have something similar, maybe not as bad as Adel.....however, he may not be as prolific in the CCC as everyone is predicting.
      Spot on.

No official offers have been made yet and £15 mill isnt that cheap, we never spent that much on a player and weve blown more money in recent years than most of the teams linked with him. They also could be looking to sign him as a backup striker or striker to bring on to play with the main one if a goal is needed. Who knows but the point is if there wasnt an issue with his overall game then surely there would be a queue of teams outbidding each other for him. Also it was fairly obvious watching us last season he struggles in that role and that is why Bobby had to play so much more than any of us and probably the club would have liked. In regards to Austin maybe money, maybe the opportunity to prove himself in the top flight, maybe the desire to play for england there a few options why he would go.

Remy had a clause that could be activated at any time, and was. Charlie hasn't. It's a hard cash, hard negotiation deal, but we are in the driving seat. If Charlie is desperate to go, let him put in a transfer request so we don't have to pay him up the remainder oh his contract, then we'll discuss a fee.

          • How different is Charlie Austin to say Gary Lineker during his prime? Yes, Lineker got the chance to prove himself at the highest level but he wasn't blessed with pace either and was predominantly a 6 yard-box goal poacher type, who was a great finisher, had the knack of being in the right place at the right time, and knew exactly how and when to make his runs to create a yard of space to finish. He wasn't suited to the lone striker role either. So essentially a very similar type of striker to Charlie. So how much would he have been worth in today's market? And how much better a player was he really in comparison to Charlie?

Well I think there is a queue of clubs. As I say why go to a mid table club at best as a backup? If there is an issue with his game then why are they bothering?
As for England as long as Roy boy is in charge Charlie won't be considered unless there is a massive injury crisis.
Bottom line 18 goals in the worst team in the league, that's 2 pens missed too.

Plus he's English Dave, which also bumps up his value. Many seem to have overlooked that.

Very good point Stanley. I hear Man City are Targeting English players because of Champs Lge
So it has a knock on effect doesn't it.

                  • He is in demand, don´t worry about it. Wasn´t he supposed to be the player most likely to leave this summer: http://talksport.com/football/14-pre...610150221?p=13

Makes no sense, that he is the most likely to leave, if nobody wants him. If only that **** had given him some time on the pitch for England, Charlie scoring a brace and us a few more £.

I cant disagree with his stats. But if he was judged purely on goals one of the big boys wouldve snapped him up. It just seems the only realistic clubs are mid table or lower and they will try and haggle as their budgets are smaller. His contract situation means we either accept a reduced fee to what he would normally be worth (with normal contract) or we roll the dice next season and hope he fires us to promotion. If he doesnt, he will walk for free no questions and we will be in the same situation as now but without our best player and no money to show from him to reinvest. It depends on what the board fancy doing

It now seems like West Brom are interested again, after slapping a £30million price tag on Berahino!!

Liverpool were interested at one stage but now have Ings, unless there's a surprise and a big side do come in and meet our valuation, it's just a battle between Southampton, Newcastle, West Brom and West Ham but can't see any of them parting with more than £10million and will have to look elsewhere soon as the new season approaches.

Apparently Chaz doesn't want to move anywhere up north so his only options appear to be Southampton and West Ham.

If it comes down to it, I would try and do a deal with Southampton for £10million, but take a couple of youngsters from them as part of the deal.

                        • Did people really expect the Austin deal to be done by now? Thats insane. Most deals get done in August and on September 1st. If we get it over the line before the games in Italy we should be happy IMHO.

I think QPR are selling Austin far too cheaply.

Southampton want 15M for Clynne whom is 24 and has one year left on his contract.

The only real difference is they are still in the Premiership, but he is a full back and they are always cheaper than goalscorers.

It’s a pity that QPR didn’t put a price tag of £20M and say he was only available for a limited time i.e. until 24th July. If no deal is done by then, he will remain at the club until at least January.

I vote for the latter. Sell Fer & Caulker for £12-15M instead and keep Phillips and Austin to do what they did 2 seasons ago, create and score goals to take QPR into the top two.
