Stan, quick as a flash kicked the ball downwards creating spin which went in-between the 2 in front of him allowing the ball to stop dead in front of the 3rd player but not too near him, allowing Stan to run through the 2 players collect the ball and put a cross in.
This happened right in front of me and l just could not believe it . Stan the most naturally gifted player iv ever seen.
One of my longstanding memories was a late free kick he scored against Coventry In an F A cup match to win us the game 3-2 circ 1976 ish, spoke to him at a signing few years back about it, he said he remembered the goal, shame we lost the next round against Lester, thought that was our year to win it.

one of my all time favourite games. Tommy Hutchinson ran our defense ragged, if it wasn't for Stan's late winner we would have gone to extra-time and Coventry were looking the stronger team at the end
I must away now, I can no longer tarry
This morning's tempest I have to cross
I must be guided without a stumble

dont recall much of the game, only that goal under the lights and going mad as a 17 year old.

So did Stan Bowles. And he also almost won the league title, League cup and a great UEFA cup record breaking the goalscoring record on the way.
A true QPR legend who unfortunately will now struggle to recall his great playing days.
My absolute favourite QPR player of all time.

He was, and in the days when scum like Chopper Harris and the 'professional' Norman Hunter could break you in half and not even concede a free kick. They didn't play on carpets either, more like ploughed fields by November.

                      Plans in hand:

Queens Park Rangers officials will explore ways of honouring Stan Bowles this week after the club legend was diagnosed with Alzheimer's.

                        Terrible news.

My Mum has had Alzheimers for the last 7 years. The difference between her now and when she was first diagnosed - well, I'm sure you can guess. It's a horrible disease and to be honest, so many people suffer with dementia these days, it also feels like a good percentage of us are fated. I hope not, I dread the thought - it's absolutely no way at all to end one's life :((

Let's hope the R&D continues to be funded adequately and we can see some huge strides in tackling this disease sooner rather than later.

Very sad news indeed, we don't know what the world will bring us tomorrow so enjoy every moment.

                              Best wishes.
