  • Ramsey reckons Brentford's model is way forward.....

If it's good enough for Bees, it's good enough for Rs, says Ramsey

Chris Ramsey has rubber-stamped QPR’s new recruitment policy by diving into League One for his first three signings of the summer.

Bristol City’s Jay Emmanuel-Thomas joins Massimo Luongo and Ben Gladwin (see gallery) from Swindon as the new Rangers way of doing things - just like the neighbours down the road at Griffin Park.

A team that's had one good season at a reasonable level in how long....40-50 years probably more.
Hardly the ideal model to aspire to.
2011-2013, 2 seasons in the Premiership, 76 games, 14 wins........two years of my life I'll never get back!!

2013/2014 mediocrity topped off with a win at Wembley....

2014/2015 was pretty much the same as 2011-2013.....

      2015/2016, average at best.....

      2016/2017, same old, same old....

      2017/2018, aim low, avoid disappointment!

Its the hope that kills you!

What a shocking thing to say about our derby club. Unreal
        Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
        And many more mistakes

LES FERDINAND, IT'S TIME TO GO

What's 40-50 years got to do with things realistically?

Seems a well run outfit & will have a new stadium before us, which is pretty poor on our part.

It's what they're doing NOW that counts, not 50 years ago.

Are you for real?? Do you not see Brentford as a real derby because I can assure you their fans hate QPR & would laugh out of their skins if the opposition manager said we want to be like our derby team

As a manager it's a ridiculous thing to say, remember when QPR played Chelsea & Austin took down Terry. That was retweeted etc proudly by QPR fans because we hate them!

Don't take Brentford lightly, it'll be a real derby game this season

Jesus I'm a Ramsey fan but you don't say we should be modelling ourselves on Brentford because they had one good season.
Could you imagine wenger saying that on Spurs or vice versa or Liverpool in Utd. That was a amateurish comment.

I wouldnt read too much into the headline of this article...

All he is getting at is picking players from the lower league's and improving them, which is the right way. Its not only Brentford that have done this, its just GWL linking the two clubs for their paper.

We are in a better position to do it then Brentford are. We can attract better younger players then they can.

The key point from that article is about buying young (and very cheap) players from the lower leagues. Fans expecting the real signings later - Rhodes etc - living in dream land imho. We seem to be going from one extreme to the other in transfers.

I agree with Ramsay. As a club we're only slightly bigger than them. Similar ground size, but we have a bigger fanbase of course. We should be looking at young players with potential and sell on value.
"When you went to the corner and saw our fans celebrating the way they were you just wanted to be part of it" - Shaun Derry after we beat the scum 1-0

This is my feeling stainrod. Although it may work it just seems we are scarred by the previous failings of buying overpriced players etc. and are going for the complete opposite instead of a more balanced approach. I'm sure this summer will enlighten us further

While QPR as a club for many years now have been regarded as hopelessly oldfashioned when it comes to scouting, training methods etc,etc Brentford, on the other hand, are actually a rolemodel for clubs and sports scientists outside England now. Believe it or not.

Personally I think it's what we need. Our transfer policy has been a joke since Tony Fernandes came to the club (and don't take that as a dig at Fernandes, I'm a big fan of the guy despite the mistakes he's made).

Speak to any fan about what annoys them most about the club, vast majority will say overpaid players who couldn't give a monkeys. Personally I want to get back to the days where players see QPR as a big club and want to work hard when selected. In my opinion, the best way to do this is to sign players looking to move up the leagues or players with something to prove. Personally I think everyone we have signed so far or been strongly linked with fall into that category.

As for the original post, yeah Ramsey could have picked his words better. Don't disagree what what he's saying but bigging up the club down the road is always a dangerous move!

The Bee's have been improving over the last 3/4 yrs, they missed out on the last day of the season 3yrs ago, got promoted the following year, last season finished in the top six.

If we where offered top six now we would take it!

The point is, good lower league players have been around for years and we have been to up our own butts to look at them.

Hart, Clyne, Jagielka, Small, Baines, Sterling, Delph, Adams, Lallana, Austin, Ings.

The list can go on, all of the above played in the first or non league and we could have picked up most of those at some stage for a combined total of under £5m in the last few years.
                              Kept the faith!
