Surely just means they won't pay "whatever it takes" to get someone in.

The losing players who won't take relegation clauses......reducing wages to suit the division we are in if we go down again - players who can accept that have to be total #rightsorts!!

That's the way I saw it Mushy ;; I thought last years signings had a relegation a clause written into their contracts and he meant those that don't want to take up the new terms .
Good to see he has learnt something lets hope he sticks to it and doesn't get swayed by the next Johny come lately that tries to get in his ear

If taken literally it means he expects players to play for nothing.

Bearing that in mind the commonly agreed view is bang on!

Also those that will only join if we give them a get out clause.

Shame Charlie going into his last year but that's life. Had two good years out of him and will sell at a decent profit. We aren't Man Utd.
Same here and what the Fox says, we should be happy with the changes we're seeing so far. I can for the life of me see why people are so upset this summer?

Yeah reading it again its pretty obvious he means not paying over the odds instead of strictly free transfers. Just a strange way to word it

I have a feeling we just might see Tony finally do whats right. Not oaying overinflated transfer fees or wages, regardless who the player is. If that means we don't get a couple of players we really want, so be it. Would rather our finances were sorted.

We will never manage to sign any young, hungry and promising Premier League player, if they would have to keep playing for us in the Championship with reduced wages.

No I wouldn't but wasn't he talking about players already at the club not wanting to take terms under the clause

Of course you would - they would just use us as a stepping stone to bigger clubs unless they got into the PL with us.

Clubs and tf finally seem to have learnt lessons and we now look like a club that's building foundations and operating the proper way.
I think Les needs to take massive credit for what's going on. He's ca,e in and he's changing the culture. I also think what fox said in a earlier post was really spot on and shouldn't go missed. We have shown we will spend money on good investments and I believe we will continue to do so.

As for the comment regarding Charlie I think tf is saying that the 50k a week deal on offer a few months ago is off the table and being a championship club I imagine we re offered terms of around 30 k plus a rise of we got promoted.
