Liverpool paid £35mil for Andy Carroll. I'd say £15m for Charlie is reasonable.

It should be simple enough. If a buying club doesn't agree a price for Austin (£15-20M in my book) he stays and sees out his contract. QPR will then have a striker capable of scoring 25-30 goals a season giving the team a chance of challenging for promotion. He will want to perform well in order to have clubs interested in him when his contract expires and in case Hodgson keeps him in mind for the Euros next summer.

Exactly. I don't buy this argument that he'd sulk because he doesn't get the move that he is allegedly seeking - firstly for the reasons you describe, and secondly because he's just not that type of character.

I do agree with this but I don't like the uncertainty and there is a risk of a last minute swoop a la Remy and we are then left short of a striker.

Hopefully they realise this and will sign a few strikers just in case. We don't have to name a 25 next season so if we sign 3 or 4 strikers and use the youngsters too, we have plenty of cover. As long as a couple of those strikers are good enough to replace Charlie.

That's the dream fella. Hopefully we prove him out of a move and he stays and we have the best striker in the championship.

Could easily move to Southampton, West Ham, Villa, etc and still not get 5 minutes for England

Might as well stay with us!

Exactly, good response!!.... player value mean nothing in football any more. All about what players are in demand and what owners are willing to spend on them.

Doesn't mean Carroll is worth £35 million, Liverpool got mugged off, they sold him for £15 million and I think West Ham got mugged off too.

We would be able to tell from the first goal he scores next season if he is sulking or not

He seems happy enough living in London and if he did stay and go on free next season he would get huge signing on fee bigger then he would for transfer now so him and agent might even think one seasons pain for life times financial gain
