'Pool, Newcastle, Scum, WHU, Saints, Villa, Spurs, Palace all interested in Charlie..
I'm disappointed with £15m (would have held out for £20m plus add-ons - and somebody would have gone for it) but it is a lot better than the £8-10m that even some QPR fans were suggesting. Good thing they aren't doing our negotiating!
Credit to our negotiating team on this; early-on £10m was quoted as the fee we would get but we have drawn a line in the sand at £15m and stuck to our guns, and now that is the quoted fee. A big improvement on how we have done business in the recent past. All the cheapskates will regret their tight fistedness when Charlie is banging them in for his new club, whomever that may be, as he surely will. A real snip at £15m, IMHO.
I agree £15M does not sound a lot to me for a striker who quite frankly looks like a natural goal scorer who will score goals at whatever level he plays. The fact that he only has 1 year left on his contract, is what makes this an acceptable price (why only signed a 3 year contract I will never know… for a player like him it should have been a 4-5 year deal (he is no Agyemang).
My only hope now is that QPR have negotiated a % on a sell on fee too, because another season or 2 like his last year, will see him valued at £30M+ as he will still only be around 27-28 years old and at his peak.
and if he goes to West Ham he's dead to me - I hope the c*nt breaks his leg early doors.
Would rather see him warming the bench at Stamford Bridge
Wherever he goes, I would only wish him well. He has served the club well in his 2 seasons and is only leaving because they got relegated (had better action by the Board been taken during the 1st half of the season i.e. scak Redkrapp, QPR would have stayed up and he could have signed a new 3-4 year deal to stay.
