It didnīt sound like he wanted to come to us at all. But sure he is excatly the type of player we need. I reckon he will he will take a lot of pressure from our younger players.

Very good player but he will be 32 in September.

Any transfer fee we would pay for him, be it in cash or in part exchange, would be gone when his contract ends because he would have no sell-on value. So, it is imperative that we do not pay any fee for a player of that age, either in cash or in part exchange. And to prevent any illusions, we should keep any deal for Murray completely separate from any deal involving Austin, so that it is clear that we are not paying any fee for him.

We need to get smarter about how we manage our expenses.

Murray would be a good signing as dsqpr said, Austin should be money and a premier sub forward from the club he goes to.

Would be the best striker in the champ. Outstanding striker
            Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
            And many more mistakes

LES FERDINAND, IT'S TIME TO GO

Wolves in pole position for gayle. He's the one we should be going for -

Good age, fantastic finisher and better than Murray imo.

At 10mil some on here think we should do a straight exchange for Austin!!!

Gayle's 12 goals in 48 games for Palace (strike rate of 1 in 4) not much to write home about.Perhaps his assist rate is better.

1 in 4 in the prem for a young striker who probably has started 50% of those games is pretty good. If you were familiar with the player you wouldn't be relying on stats to state your case.
I think most who have actually seen this lad play know his potential and that he's a scorer. Would and will be a massive coup for anyone in the championship.

Key word again is championship. If he scored 1 in 4 in the pre, in a average team I'm sure he can average 1 in 3 minimum in our league. Also he's still progressing and should get even better.

Out of interest why are Palace willing to let go?? Why not just loan him out for couple of seasons to cut his teeth then reap the rewards

100% we should be in the hunt for Gayle.

I think the fact they are looking at the likes of Charlie and remy indicates pardew doesn't see a position at the club for him. Don't think that's a reflection on Gayle, they are just looking to a level or two above him.
