If were looking for a positive next week is the big game for England and perhaps Roy never wanted to risk one of the few strikers he has in squad when he may well be needed and played then

on a negative perhaps our Charlie is not rated as highly outside of the bush as we hold him in it be interesting now to see what interest is shown in him from what clubs

Maybe, but you can't imagine they'll just throw him straight into a qualifier, without testing him out/getting his sharpness up first.

Think that was it for Charlie Austin (QPR) in the England squad. I'm sure he'll stay involved with squads next year though if he keeps his goal-scoring up.

I was gonna say something similar. Roy has watched enough of both players (austin and vardy) to have an informed opinion and made the decision to play vardy. People will say he's clueless etc. but he is england manager and made that decision through no bias or anything untoward so must feel vardy offers more. People listing this seasons stats as proof Charlie is better (goals comparison) but gone are the days where strikers are purely judged on goals scored. He lacks the mobility or technical ability to play as a lone striker IMO and so maybe Roy feels he will only play if another striker is on the pitch
