  • Looks like Charlie's off.......

Charlie Austin will meet the Queens Park Rangers director of football, Les Ferdinand, after the international break to discuss his future, with the striker having suggested his aim is to remain in the Premier League.

Southampton lead suitors as Charlie Austin prepares for QPR exit

Nothing new there Rangers, we all know Charlie wants to play in the Premier League.

But it isn't up to him, it is up to us, for next season anyway. We need to maintain the strong bargaining position we have rather astonishingly established!

Saints would be a great landing spot for him. Could see him netting 20+ for them.

Yes, that could be enough to catapult them into the Champions League. Which would be a pretty good return on an investment of £20m plus add-ons.

I don't get this acceptance that we should let Charlie go for 10-15m just because he has a year left on his contract, have you forgotten he was the PL fourth highest scorer, compare that with DeGea, played for champion's league qualifiers yet not even in top five clean sheets but valued at 30m, Clyne? Saints turned down 10m from Liverpool, both only with a year left.
We see other clubs in particular Saints and Swansea who we aspire to be, negotiate massive fees for average players, mainly to Liverpool.
As much as I want Charlie to get as far as he can in the game, I don't want it to be at our expense.
If we dig our heels in for 25m starting price and nobody's willing to cough up, we keep him, his goals give us a better chance of promotion and 100k+, he leaves on a free, with double the salary he'll get this summer as no fee to pay, everyone's a winner.

I've been fighting such a lonely battle on this Kurt, it is so nice to see at least one person on my side!

Why fellow QPR fans are so determined to devalue the best player we have had in a very long while is completely and utterly beyond my understanding.

it's the news most of us will dread, Charlie gone. But he deserves his chance, there were times when you saw his frustration with our tactics and the lack of support he got. Get £15m+ and send him on his way with our best wishes

15 million is more than acceptable and a reasonable price.

1 year left to go and we are now a championship club not premiership. I love Charlie and he's done brilliant but he's also at the moment a striker who has performed to the standards off last year once. If you take that all into consideration the. 15 mill is good business.

We need as much as possible as when Charlie goes we need to bring 3 strikers in and even if 1 is on a free I imagine we will need to shell out a few mill two pretty decent ones.

I just hope the 10 mill that's constantly quoted in the papers is wrong as I do feel that is a under valuation of Charlie considering McCormack went for 11m and Rhodes is valued around 8-10m.

15m is good for all involved. QPR must sign two goal scoring strikers tho
                        Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
                        And many more mistakes

LES FERDINAND, IT'S TIME TO GO

I'd use that and go and get afobe and gayle for the same price. Controversially as well d we got two strikers of that ilk and had cox in the wings too I would sign Cole on a years deal.

I think £15m with a sell on clause would be ok

unfortunately i think we need the money to buy a decent squad of championship players. Gone are the days of pumping in cash , we cant because of the FFP situation.
