Did you live there before the westway was built? I can just about remember what the area was like before then... a different world.

Love Cookes hvae been a regular there for years in my mind £8 well spent, your deffo full after. Normal Saturday Double Pie Mash& Liquor, then off to the Shepherd & Flock for a few beers prior to the game, hope it can be saved and relocated somewhere in the bush? but it wouldn't hurt the Rs to have say Blue & white or somewhere in the ground an outlet seeling it I for one would use it,

And, as stated earlier in the thread, the ribs are superb

I have it once a month without fail and have done since a kid, i am going to be properly gutted when it shuts down in three weeks. I know i can go to cockneys in the grove, but as ginge said, its nowhere near as good as cookes. Having it once a week till they shut.

Oh and i forgot, it will never open at rangers, the owners want out and are retiring and not interested in relocating. Which is a gutter.

if that is the case its a shame .
due to the demand though ,another pie and shop could step up and do a roaring trade at home games; except for cookes i dont know another over West, maybe the club should tap up Manzes ,the home of pie and mash

Such a shame, i've been having Pie & Mash in there for 30 years before matches, the wife and me will miss it a lot.
I have supported Rangers for 55 seasons, since March 1969.

Overpriced food served up by surly women in an immigrant infested Carsie. But,im going to miss the place a lot.rarely used it on a match day as food is an unnecessary hindrance for me on such occasions. used to go there regularly for lunch with pals, once went 4 days running and on one of those days had 2 and 2 twice ! Also got into a routine of taking my eldest daughter and nephew there before we walk through bush market where they could marvel wide eyed at the wildlife before popping into Stuart's then nipping into the Rangers shop and then making our escape onto the A40.going to be a sad day when it's gone. Pie and mash isn't everyone's cup of tea but I see it as decent, working class grub (admittedly £8 for a double isn't exactly working class prices) and pie and mash shops will start to fall like dominoes as our culture is further eroded.my old grandad also worked in there when he was a kid skinning the eels, hope that isn't some awful euphemism now I think about it ! Anyway RIP Cookes , il be down there at least once before it goes , hopefully with my eldest and me nephew to have our last meal at a truly iconic gaf.

not all bad news. Kerbisher & Malt voted 11th best chippie in Britain. Located Shepherds Bush Rd., by Brook Green. Anyone sampled their wares?
