Never going to sign because too much money. Some fans going to be seriously unhappy on Christmas morning if they think we are going to be spending anything like 10m on a player.

          ridiculous

rediculous statement if we sell macarthy for 2 million and hoilett for 4 million and fer for 8 million and sandro for 6 million
and get 8 million from the rahern sterling sale we have 28 million

so we buy jorden rhodes for 15 million then we start the season with austin rhodes and phillips that would be
the most powerfull forward line ever in this division ever guaranteeing us a 12 point lead by christmas and then we can offer
charlie austin a fabulous contract and go into the prem with a new confidence

Would rather Fer than Rhodes tbh.

Our spend will depend on our sales imo. If we sell Austin 15m, phillips 10m, hoilett 2m, Sandro 4-6m, Fer 8m and get 8m for sterling there's a potential 45 m haul there.

So I don't see it being unrealistic for us to spend 10 - 20m and bank the rest.

Rhodes is on something like 50k a week & Les said we don't spend more then 20 now a days
                  Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
                  And many more mistakes

LES FERDINAND, IT'S TIME TO GO

I don't see the reason in spending it all on 1 striker, especially given that we managed to get Austin for 3 or 4 million and honestly don't see us needing to spend more than that on an individual in any position this season.

                      i think

i think if we keep caulker austin and phillips we can clear out all the other players and buy a partner who can equal
austin up front this could only be jorden rhodes and afobe from wolves

if we have to pay out 15 to 20 million for one of these it would be money well spent if we get promoted

Maybe we can get promotion with these two but I personally don't think we need to spend that money on one player to guarantee promotion. Honestly, we aren't far off the autos IMO and more importantly, are we saying we Value Rhodes as much as we value Austin? I certainly wouldn't.

I probably would value Rhodes as much as Austin - the bloke has scored 20+ goals a season for 6 seasons in a row - natural born goalscorer

                            yes

yes rhodes is definately above charlie austin in fitness and goalscoring, and yes more valuable as well so 15 million would be a bargain for him

This Rhodes love in on the board is so boring. He scores goals at championship level but is completely unproven beyond that. Plenty of stirkers fail in the top flight after being prolific lower down, and there were similar uncertainties regarding Austin / Ings etc this time last year. They have now proved they can score in the top flight.

Given the price they paid for him and what they would expect if they sold him, he is by default a completly over- valued player in the market and therefore not worth touching.

Some people need to smell what they are actually writing if they honestly think it's worth spunking £15m on Rhodes when the realistic going rate for a top striker at this level is around £4-5m.

As I pointed out the other day, we operate at an annual loss of 40/50m. There would be nothing left to bank. And that's before we get into ffp.
