I think the point is being missed. If contract has expired, then what are the negotiations about then, there is nothing to talk about except clear out your locker. It is clearly sign posting, subject to the salary being Ok by the club, that some of the players are being considered for a new contract and it is a case of will they accept the terms being offered.
