This Club is on its knees and implementing this strategy is a long term project. None of the above will happen by magic overnight.
So yes, a 3 year contract also makes sense and let's hope they don't boot him out at the first sign of trouble because, despite the delusion of some, we are not going to take the world by storm in 5 minutes.
A one year deal, seriously - why would anyone even suggest that
Stability is the key, and we are crying out for it.

Quite simply it can be extended at any time
Lets not forget one of the players he produced is none other than our very own calamity Caulker

I, personally, and quite pleased with it. We have been down the road of high profile managers and look where that got us! Ramsey has a lot to proove but I think he has shown glimpses of being a decent gaffer - he isn't afraid to make changes early & to mix the formation up to change a game (something Redknapp could never do).

As blue says, I think it sets out our stool for the way we are hoping to conduct our business in the future. We have been crying out for some continuity for a long time now.

Exactly, at least most of us are waking up and smelling the coffee. But, as they say, you can't please all of the people all of the time. Seriously, suggesting that it's the cheap option or that a 3 year deal means a big pay out when we sack him next season #lostforwords

But since their first encounters Caulker has been Redknapped
I blew a lot on vodka and tonic, gambling and fags. Looking back, I think I overdid it on the tonic. - The one and only Stanley Bowles

We're all assuming that he's on small money, and he may be. However, it wouldn't surprise me if he was on big money, because that seems to be the way Tony operates based on experience, unless he's turned a corner. Apologies, he's said he has so he must have

time to back him now and give him his own squad so he has half a chance. that means getting shot of wasters like Adel etc who are not committed to the cause

We have tried everything else and failed so new approach was needed.

I think the key and bigger question now is who he has working with him as coaches. Bondy thanks for driving Harry but your services are no longer needed he has to go

Redknapp was ready to flog Caulker in Jan when Wet Spam made a bid, but TF put the blockers on it.
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

Surely the mistake TF made was to appoint managers only after the chequebook? In Ramsey he's appointed the opposite so I fail to see how you came to the conclusion that this is Tony not learning from his mistakes?

I wonder if we will go further down the old boys route and bring in ex-rangers - there's been plenty recently who may not have done it as managers but would be good heads for coaching roles.
Derry and Waddock for example. Higher profile, perhaps roles for the likes of Holloway and Francis or even Bardsley?
And also promote from within with the likes of Hill and Dunne being ideal candidates?

To be fair think this shows he has learnt and is going for trying to set the foundations for a youth scheme going forward rather than splashing money around. I am glad its not Allardyce or similar although slightly disappointed its not Clement alongside Ramsey as well. Think this may also be a statement to FL that we are moving away from trying to buy the success and limit the possible fine.

Whatever happened to Tony's "Close to signing my dream manager" ########?
I should probably write something insightful here

Quite happy with this appointment and glad it's been announced swiftly, means we can get on with the job of preparing for next season immediately.

Hopefully this news today will convince the likes of Fer and Phillips to stick around, maybe even Austin, seeing as the players seem to like him.

                              Onwards and Upwards.
