I could be wrong but I once heard that Jimmy Greaves was far from the most committed at training but in his prime was one of the greats.
An embarrassing post and posts like this basically defend the shocking behaviour of Adel

Lets stop allowing people to take the p iss out of our club and that includes players no matter how good they think they are or were. If you paid by us you put a f ucking shift in day in day out no more lazy c unts at our club and no more excuses for these lazy c unts from the fans

A list of the bad eggs are listed in the Mirror today, Vargas, Adel, Zarate, Traore and Isla. Perhaps we won't be doing the foreign option again
I blew a lot on vodka and tonic, gambling and fags. Looking back, I think I overdid it on the tonic. - The one and only Stanley Bowles

Isla played almost every game, Vargas the same until Ramsey came, was dropped, when recalled was one of our best players. Zarate, Jesus he played a combined total of about 45 mins ffs. The other two I'm not surprised about. Odd I must say.

It does show how football / sport has changed back in the 70's / 80's Mavericks were geniuses and most have gone on to become Club Legends but now these sort of players are just not tolerated as they don't add to the team spirit. I remember a number of occasions Bowlesy didn't turn up for training or the airport for Pre season etc. Now don't get me wrong these players are not in the same league as Bowlesy but its a shame these sort of players are not embraced anymore. Think far too much is made of bad eggs etc every club has them in every sport.

Embraced? This is the same player who kept telling anyone who listened he was going to move to a big club.

Leaves a game at half time to catch a bus home.

We get relegated and he's first out the door to Fulham and then to Milan.

Comes back once oromoted out of shape and makes zero effort to get fit but spends his time moaning to the papers about what good condition he is in,

It's now 3 managers in a row that haven't thought him good enough / fit enough to play.

Lazy sod is fit enough to collect his reputed £59-75k a week.

Embraced? Only embrace I'd give him is two hands on his throat.

Wests, why is it an 'embarrassing' post? No wonder some sites call this 'fantasy island'! Tell you what, reckon we'd have more than 27 points if Taarabt had started every game, lazy b'strd or not! And still don't understand why Ramsey dropped Vargas-not working hard enough or other players don't don't like him not a good enough reason, IMO. Worked with people that worked less hard than me. That's life. Obviously we'd all prefer all our players to give 100% in training and on the pitch.

You have to be fit to play regardless of how you do down the training ground.

When your'e fighting relegation you play your best team. Normally that means playing your best available players, doesn't it???

If they have fake injuries so that they can't train then they aren't in your best team - simple!

Not defending any of the 'bad eggs' one bit as I would be fuming if I was putting a shift in and others wern't on the training field, but it makes you realise why English players and football apart from the foreigners is cr*p. Players who try hard and fly into tackles are heroes, but the flair players who have more ability in their little toe then the likes of Barton are hung out to dry as they won't do pointless running on the training field.

Again, not trying to defend them as they are paid a lot of money to do what the club wants. If the gaffer tells you to run around, you got to do it no matter how much ability you have.
