As Ramsey said, don't blame Green, yes it was a poor kick but we had ample chance to defend it but we didn't

Has the time finally come to give Alex McCarthy a go?...

But mate whats the point in knowing its bad mistake if your going to make the mistake again and again. Lets he honest the next five games do you expect to see his kicks looping up in the air not making the half way line or going out for throw ins or direct down the pitch??? He has kicked like this all his career why is he going to all of a sudden start kicking properly now its the second time this season its cost us as do done same thing at Everton

In play off Final first half from memory did he not try and kick it out short fall over doing it and set Derby on the attack as he gave it to Martin??? the man is dangerous when he has to use his feet

Forget about enough time to defend the goal, The bottom line is you expect your keeper to clear his defenders with a kick from his hands. Green has done well this season but mistakes like yesterday are always waiting to come out.

Not entirely sure why it's taken yesterday's game for a lot of you to realise that Green isn't up to it. I would wager that he has cost us as many points as he's saved this season. Never inspires confidence in the back four. How a team fighting relegation can leave a £6million goalkeeper on the bench all season really does sum us up.

McCarthy must be wondering now what he has to do to get in the team. Ramsey came out yesterday to defend Green, but he had to do that didnt he. Behind the scenes I'm sure he and his staff will be reflecting on this though.

I can't imagine we have sold him the club by saying that he will sit on our bench all season. The whole point of signing a highly rated young goalkeepper like McCarthy is so they can provide competition for Green - it's pretty hard to compete when your only involvement is in training or in the warm up. Green has been no better than average for me this season (made some wonderful saves but thrown just as many clangers), and at 35 he will not stay past this season anyway. The problem is, McCarthy must be so bereft of confidence that I can't see how he can be thrown into such a high pressure situation as the one we find ourselves in at the moment. It's almost like Green has to play every week until May, regardless of how he's performing.

That's where good management comes in. If they decide to make the change its because they have faith in McCarthy. And then its up to them to sit him down, assure him that he's now their choice and to build up his confidence accordingly. Confidence may not be an issue for him, but if it is then they'll stick with Green for the rest of the season. Man-management plays a huge part though - and that goes for both keepers.

Green has been great this season but I'd put McCarthy in now as who is to say he won't go in the summer given the lack of game time he's had.

Frankly, who could blame him. If I was a 24 year old who had just been bought for £6million, and I was sitting on the bench every week behind a 35 year old who has had a good but hardly exceptional season, I think I'd get itchy feet too.

Exactly. Worries me that he left Reading for the PL and he's pretty much going back to the Championship so there is a possibility he may find another squad opportunity at a promoted or bottom half PL club.

Just hope he is told he is in the future plans as a number 1
