  • Watson wants QPR run to continue

    From BBC website:

Midfielder Ben Watson has called on his Queens Park Rangers team-mates to maintain their recent form and push up the Championship table.

Rangers, who are currently 11th, drew 1-1 at leaders Newcastle on Wednesday night and are unbeaten in six.

Watson told BBC London 94.9: "They're top and there for a reason. We matched them all over the pitch.

"We've got to do that week-in week-out, which we've done for the last couple of weeks - we've played really well."

Watson, who is on loan from Wigan, opened the scoring with a deflected drive, his second goal in four appearances for the club.

Marlon Harewood hit back with an equaliser for Newcastle but Watson believes Rangers deserved all three points.

"We came out of the blocks quick, started well, got the goal and the lads are disappointed with a point," he said.

"We controlled the game for long periods, (while) not many teams are going to come to Newcastle and get a point.

"Winning games gives confidence to the lads and we've done that. We went to Cardiff and won, then we beat Barnsley 5-2, and then we came (to Newcastle), full of confidence, nothing to lose, and played our stuff and were unlucky not to get three points."

The 24-year-old midfielder, who started his career at Crystal Palace, joined Rangers on a three-month loan but that deal can be extended when the transfer window opens in January.

In a wicked way, it's great to see the the lads were dissapointed with a draw. We'd have been delighted with that a few weeks ago. Great to see that their aspirations are to be amongst the best now. Confidence is a great weapon in life and the fact it seems to be coursing through the team makes me feel very excited for what's to come.
