Apparently, you aren't as good a striker as welbeck if in one premier league season, you have scored half as many goals as welbeck has in his whole career in the prem.

Welbeck hasnt scored loads for Arsenal this season but when he puts on an England shirt he turns into a different player.
Consistently scoring no more than 9 goals a season like welbeck? who has only managed that twice in his whole career. here are his prem goalscoring records in the last since 2008, not including his goals at preston NE:

      2008/09 - 3 App 1 Goal
      2009/10 - 5 App 0 Goal
      2010/11 - 26 App 6 Goal (Sunderland)
      2011/12 - 30 App 9 Goal
      2012/13 - 27 App 1 Goal
      2013/14 - 25 App 9 Goal
2014/15 - 23 App 4 Goal (Man Utd and Arsenal)

Top top striker really isn't he?

How many caps has Austin got for England again?
        How many has Welbeck got?

How many goals has Welbeck scored for England?
        How many has Austin?

Dont start giving it the goal scoring record in Austins one and only season in the Prem at 25 years of age..... Welbecks a year younger as well by the way.
You want to look at goal scoring record then start by comparing it at the top level... International football.

Welbeck must be doing something more than Austin to be consistently picked for England over the years.. Dont you think?

Wonder if Arsenal would swap Welbeck for Charlie?

If Charlie keeps doing it then i will happily eat humble pie but to compare him to Welbeck who has gone to World Cups and scored 13 goals in 32 for England, as well as playing Champions league football for Arsenal is ridiculous.

Thing is, I keep repeating this, at every level he has played, charlie scores goals everywhere, 17 goals minimum per season and that shows consistency.

At every level he has played at?.. His played Championship, League 1 and non league... If anything He should of scored MORE goals at that level by the way your talking him up and its certainly no comparison to Arsenal, champions league or international football.

I wonder how many goals Welbeck would score if he was the main man for us at Rangers or how many he would score if you put him in league one or the champ.

You simply cannot compare someone with 32 senior international appearances at 24 years old to someone who is in his 1st top level season, with no international appearences at any level and 25 years old

Welbeck is the business at international level, anyone who thinks Austin should be above him in the pecking is deluded.

Resorting to inventing stats now. Unbelievable Jeff!

                          • Nasser mate, I think you are too clouded by stats. Welbeck brings more to a team than just scoring goals; he makes runs into the channels, runs behind the defence and all round has high work rate and good pace. This stretches the opposition and allows other players to get the goals. Charlie is really just a one trick pony (albeit very good at it) with his finishing. He lacks pace, hold up play/aerial ability with back to goal and thus struggles to play as a lone striker IMO

Good post..Charlie is a top finisher but he is missing attributes that would make him a top striker imo.
