If 6 months ago Harry wanted to swap Austin for Kane there would have been an uproar on here. Now some people are saying Kane is miles than him even though he has 1 more league goal for a much better team. No wonder players for the big clubs always get picked when even fans of the small club are saying this.

For the record they should both be in it in my opinion and Walcott or Townsend shouldnt be as Welbeck can play on the wing as well.

That said, I am glad Charlie isn't in the squad (from a selfish point of view).
No, but he has done well for England when selected.

i agree with the comments of he should have been selected at the expense of either Walcott, Townsend or Shaw.

I think if Roy was picking more than 4 strikers then i put Austin ahead of Berahino, Ings and Lambert anyway.

Hmmm.... Wait until after weekend eh? Bound to be some dropouts.
Anyway, if my kids' life depended on someone scoring a penalty I would not let Welbeck or Sturbridge take it in a million years and I'd let Charlie do it without hesitating.
Sure, them two are quick, fit, agile and that but I'm not convinced about their ability to just stick the ball in the net like a Rush or Lineker.

Charlie hasnt got much pace and cant hold a ball up but the boy can finish as good as if not better than the 4 selected.

Agreed but against shocking oppo. And this is a friendly, so surely its a time to select those on the fringes of the squad and are in form and deserve a shot? Never understood England squad selections tbh.

Charlie has been great for us this season but I don't think he's good enough to be in the England squad as mentioned above, he has no pace, not the best at holding up the ball and not really good at dribbling either.

Like Gary Lineker and Jimmy Greaves then.

Not so long ago, one Jay Bothroyd played for England. Charlie should get a chance sooner or later.
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

To be fair he has looked ok for England and has scored against decent teams.... Pretty much secured the current group with both goals away in Switzerland to name but two.

The squad should have 5 strikers anyway. Goals win games and even if thy don't play in the match he could gauge them in the training sessions as to how they might cope with and against this level of player, plus see if anyone really clicked with Rooney for example.

Come on, Welbeck has been one of England's best performers for the last few years, you can't drop him. He'll play wide anyway, something that Austin's not cut out for.

Kane was always going to be brought in, Sturridge is an important player. Rooney is holding the team back but he'll forever be forced into the side as he is the FA/Prem poster boy of this era. If anything Berahino deserves a call up.

Austin is too one dimensional for England at the moment. He's unlucky but for the first time in years we have some kind of depth in the ST/CF departments. He'll get a cap eventually though.
