Mate have a think about it before you spout rubbish!Forrest have massively under achieved! They spent some serious money and should be up there and reading have a pretty decent squad to and could argue they have under achieved!! That league is bloody hard work and in theory those teams should be doing better but we all know what a slog the championship is!
The league positron of Forrest and reading is not reflective on mackie as a player but of them as a team in whole!! You can pick players from average teams which will then improve you!! He could easily get in wolves team, Ipswich, Brentford, prob Bournemouth too - not many expected them team to be top six did they?

Was part of the last squad that went down always offside and ran in straight lines until he ran out of pitch. Would have him next season as a squad player only

Were there also not rumours he was one of the bad apples last time we dropped????

Forest are around mid table in the Championship = Fact - look at the league table
Reading are 17th and a lower Championship side = Fact - look at the league table
You then say he could easily get in Wolves, Ipswich Bretfords teams etc which is an opinion and not a fact and yet you say i am "spitting Rubbish"?? Deary me.

Yes the league positon of Forest is a reflection on the team as a whole. They are a mid table team in the Championship and Mackie is deemed not good enough to get in that squad let alone play. What is so difficult to understand about that? If they thought he was that good a player he would be playing for them. He played 50 odd games for them last year and got no more than 5 goals and by all accounts he was tosh. For the record am not even sure he starts for Reading much either but yes am sure those top 6 are crying everyday he doesn't play for them.

I know where Forrest and reading are in the league!!! Doesn't mean it reflects on Mackie!! So what Stuart Pearce didn't like him it's all about opinions!
Forrest had a mare under Pearce so doesn't look like he got to much right and from what a load of Forrest fans were texting in this morning on talk sport it seems a lot would have him back!!
We are on the way to that league and on paper next year our team prob will look like it should be a top six team but we all know that league doesn't work like that!
There are a number of players in the championship who are playing in team 7th and below who could play for a top six side or even a prem team! That's my point and its pretty simple!

Maid you're talking utter nonsense. The bloke has a purple patch like Patrick Agyemang and this has clearly clouded your opinion.

When we signed Wayne Routledge when mackie broke his leg the team improved massively and 2nd half of the season the quality rose massively.

Work rate only gets you so far and he is a prime example of it so stop this wacky idea!
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

Well I'm firmly in the mackie camp think he's a decent player certainly in the championship and personaly would have him our squad right now in the prem!

But I respect others views, it's what we love about footie and enjoy my fellow r's persepctives!!

Agree good summary. Squad player at best and he never liked the thought of that so he got on his toes

The guy used to be looking across the line couple of yards offside and he still never had the sense to get back onside

                  This is absolutely bang on.

I'd take Mackie back if we get relegated in a heartbeat, would be a good squad player for us imo.... but to suggest he's top Championship/Prem class just isn't correct (unfortunately).

Remember his goal at derby away a few years back. We scored 2 in the last couple of mins to get a draw. Was already on my way out of the ground and by the derby end when it went in, got chased across the car park for over celebrating. Have some good memories of Mackie's time with us but they should stay memories, don't want him back to be a squad player and don't think he is good enough for anything more with us.

Descent championship player he showed he wasn't good enough for the prem didn't pull up any trees when at Forest, scored a few lately for fake hoops, championship player at best , but would still have him over SWP,

And he would have most likely scored a few for us this season - and what's more important, he would have run his socks off and stimulated the other team-members as well. He is like the little starter engine that puts a much larger machine into motion, our team misses this impetus sorely right now. Makes all the difference. Just remember him against Liverpool back in March 2012 when we seemed 90% relegated.

Mind you, the grafters at West Brom have got the team going in the prem for a good few Seasons now.
Mackie is just that kind of player, IMO . If we brought him back we should try to persuade Steve Clarke to come to us as well...

Mackie was put on a pedestal by so many Rangers fans just becasue he scored regularly at the start of his time with us and ran a lot ....

They ignored the fact that often it was a complete waste of energy and something he'd be better off not doing, such as charging 50 yards to a keeper who'll pick it up anyway, then lacked the energy for a worthwhile run soon after. Chasing players down in general play is one thing, bt he often took it to extremes.

They also ignore the fact he missed countless sitters.

They also ignore the fact he was incredibly greedy, often more so than Adel and would repeatedly ignore a simply pass to "Try" and beat another player... and by beat, i mean normally just run into them and bundle and bobble a way through them "hopefully".....

Then of course there were the endless times he just kicked the ball and ran into dead ends or even straight off the pitch.

He also had a tendancy to make clumsy tackles in our final third giving away dangerous Free kicks near our box.

Other than that he was great.....

Would still get in our current eleven with the likes of Hoilett, Kranjcar and SWP getting in.
