Both were stonewall pen's. Isla is in on an open goal if no contact is made there and Austin's shot is going in. Even though bentaleb was close, his hands were raised and in an unnatural position."What stats allow you to do is not take things at face value. The idea that I trust my eyes more than the stats, I just don't buy that because I've seen magicians pull rabbits out of hats and I know I just know that rabbit's not in there." - Billy Beane

Isla was caught but it wasn't a blood an thunder challenge and I could see how that could easily be missed, I think he was looking for it.
The handball wasn't a penalty for me as the players were right next to each other and I'm not sure I accept the 'unnatural position' argument. Try playing football with your arms tied to your body, it's impossible, if defenders are going to move quickly for a block sometimes your arms come up.
Green should have been sent off about a month ago at the beginning of a game for the most blatant handball I have seen in a very long time and the referee and linesman both missed it so it goes in our favour sometimes.
Whatever you think of the decisions I think most of us have seen many many replays now and there still isn't a consensus on if either were penalties so the ref's with only one view at full speed with players all around them have an even harder job. I would like the commentators to give there verdict on a decision on seeing it live before any replays are shown and lets see how many they get right.

For the isla one, again, it is a 100 percent penalty and there should be no question as to that being a penalty. He clearly gets none of the ball and the ref has a decision to make, either book isla for simulation or book or send off the keeper for fouling him. You cannot be allowed to let that happen the way it did. That is embarrassing refereeing.
Also, saying there isn't a consensus on if either were penalties is wrong because just about everyone except you and maybe one or two others have said anything otherwise. At full speed, me and 16 to 17000 rangers fans saw both as a clear pen and none of us were on the pitch. Spurs fans saw them as pens and even the best of the best pundits saw them as pens so there is no debate here."What stats allow you to do is not take things at face value. the zamora holding... yeah, i'd say penalty, but if it was against us, i'd be going on about 'you never see them given'
the handball, for me, is clear... ok, it's close, but the dude's hands are raised... he's making himself big. no penalty is a very generous decision.
but... y'know, the not-given-corner after 30 seconds is a terrible decision. even worse for me was zamora's yellow. he does very little, mason has a tantrum and has a bit of afters/handbags... the ref books zamora and takes no action against mason.
spuds weren't on their game today... but their 12th man ensured that they didn't drop points.

Oh yes it most certainly is and this is the right place to do it. You have to accept other peoples views and opinions even though they are the direct opposite of your own. Both not clear cut pens for me either.

But the fact is the ball was on target and heading straight for the back of the net, but the player brings his hands up and stops this from happening..... stone wall penalty imo.... but like you say V its all about opinions on here and to some that doesnt count as a penalty. Just a shame the ref also doesnt know the rules and also thinks its not a penalty.
