Darnell Furlong looked way out of his depths (You can't blame the kid, he's gone from playing at Harlington to having Alexis Sanchez running down on him), in hindsight I think Ramsay would have started Isla (Who would have played with Sanchez many times) or Onouha at RB.

Sandro looked good and I understand why he was taken off, but you've taken off a defensive combative midfield and replaced him with someone who doesn't run, track back or put in a challenge. I think Niko spent more time on the floor than he did on the ball. He was VERY poor.

I doubt you'll ever see a team in the premier league fighting for their safety have 3 Chilean internationals on the bench, how Vargas didn't come on instead of Isla is beyond me.
Reason Isla came on imo is to stop the rot at the last minute. Will give us a good boost to not concede right at the end and having isla bring defensive solidity will limit the chances of conceding.

i think the issue is simple, ramsey prefers to play people in their best positions... isla is not really a defender, more an attacking winger. vargas is a forward, not an attacking winger. either he drops phillips (who is in form) to make way for isla or he drops austin (who still seems our most reliable source of goals) for vargas.

i don't dislike the idea of isla playing in front of furlong (would provide a bit more defensive cover while furlong's stepping up), but we need the creativity that phillips is bringing from the flank.

Mainly agree but for me play Niko K at any time in this team is a mistake is an error. Offers absolutely nothing. I'd accommodate anyone over him.

agree (almost) about niko, but we didn't have anyone else on the bench who could play central midfield and it was fairly obvious that sandro wouldn't manage the 90.

Isla is definitely not an attacking winger, he is either a wing back or full back.

Why Furlong was picked ahead of Isla the other night is beyond me! There was no mention of an injury to Isla beforehand.

Ramsey cost us the game as much as Niko did the other night because Ramsey was the bloke that sent him on to play in the middle of the park alongside Cazorla and Ozil.

Niko is not a tackling or holding CM, there was no-one else I believe. He's a CAM, LM or SS. Bit like Tarbs.

Who else was going to play in cm?

Where was Doughty?... Centre midfield was not the position that needed changing. If you have no one else to put in there, then don't change anything, especially if it is going to risk losing the game.

^^He had to take Sandro off though, couldn't risk him getting injured. We REALLY need Fer back, with him in the side we could have won that game.

And I know Philips is shining now that Ramsey is giving him minutes in his best position but I'd rather see Vargas in the team tbh. Not impressed at all with him & Isla being left out..

I disagree with this, 'he HAD to take off Sandro... We have no one else to put in there. Why risk the game at that stage.... I wouldn't of even said he look fatigued!

I don't think we can make a fitness judgement on looking at them. The club had a plan and had to execute it. He came off to allow him to potentially play tomorrow.

There wont be a 'dream manager' next season when QPR are back in the Championship.
