Well if theres no debt then what are they worrying about FFP for then? if iur accounts are going to show us in a positive and we have actually made money over the past 4 seasons then we truly are a well run football club and i cant understand why the Football League is bothering us over FFP.

Backwards since when though v? We haven't done this well in decades! Backwards to you cos you want it to be, but again in real life they have taken us massively forwards

this farce was brought in under the guise of protecting clubs ending up like Portsmouth etc...Making sure the clubs are not saddled with huge debts while the latest owner
        walks away with no worries.
If they try and whack us with this huge fine/relegation to the conference or whatever it will be for nothing more than spiteful reasons, which is totally unfair
This is what I never understood, makes no sense whatsoever Dave!

Do the football league understand all this then Brights? Quick get on the blower and tell them we havent broken any FFP rules cos we are not in debt and any money we spend (waste) while the current board is here is not QPR's money its the shareholders money. Even though the accounts in the clubs name say we have made a £70 million loss every year since they took over its ok cos its not our money and we really are a well run club. It's these type of people that are ruining football in this country. Mind you at least Abramovich and the Man City lot are good at it..

I would prefer the title of this thread to be along the lines of "Board Writes off 60m of QPR Debt" or something like that. Rather than giving the "Tony Bashers" a forum.

This is a very generous gesture and shows that Tony and the Board are in this for the long haul. So long as the debt remains outstanding there is always the prospect of it being repaid, just like the ABC loan which was indeed eventually repaid. Tony and the Board have given up that prospect for the benefit of the club. This is NOT creative accounting. It would be very hard for the powers that be to legislate against smaller clubs receiving generous gifts!

Leicester's Chairman and Board could do the same thing if they wanted to (assuming they are the ones who lent the club money). We will soon find out who has the more generous owner!

As for those who CRITICIZE Tony and the Board for their generosity and say "their gift to the club should have been bigger", that is a candidate for the most ridiculous statement of the year.

Cmon then Kev..how are we better off since they took over from Briatore ? What have they spent their £170 million on that has taken us forwards? I still think the side that came up with Warnock would probably beat this lot.

Tbf the recent aquisiton of Ramsey and the appointment of Ferdinand may be us turning a corner but we will have to wait and see.

The mistakes that have been made are history. The fact is that Tony and the Board certainly have no obligation whatsoever to write off even one penny, no matter how the club has done in the past and no matter whether the money was well spent. So yes, choosing to write it off is a very generous gesture. But of course you already know all this but will pursue your anti-TF agenda with disingenuous posts regardless.

                    • Two questions why do people keep saying FA won't be happy when it'd nothing to do with them and its Football League rule

Secondly how much of the debt people are pinning on TF was already in place when he bought the club

But i thought they are all shareholder loans and it's their money anyway. So how could paying back £60 million to themselves be seen as generous?

Under £10 million i think Wests..the other hundred and fifty or whatever is down to the current lot. But its ok its their own money not the clubs!. Guess we see in the accounts later this week how much debt remains in the clubs name.

                          • The constant Tony bashing by vblock has reached a new level today. It's become an obsession and even this piece of good news has somehow been twisted so that it appears to be a bad move.

It's about time you brought your battle to an end. Either that or go and get treatment
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

I can reiterate for the slow of understanding ...it is good news today. The amount of £60 million has been wiped off debt currently held under the clubs name in its accounts. It's a good day for all the fans. It's extra good news for me tho cos i can picture the numpties sitting there bemoaning the loss :-) Hope it hurts and makes them realize that owning a football club can get very expensive when it's not done properly. Now they just need to wipe of the rest of the money they have accrued making mistake after mistake and then i'll be even more happy than i am now! :-) Off to open my bottle of Jamie and have a drink to them.

You seem to be in a very small minority here when it comes to Tony bashing. Most fans can see that he's trying his best to turn us into a stable prem club that has a nice stadium and training facilities. All you've ever done is butcher the bloke from a forum.

Don't you think you put a stop to it?
