The most obvious sending off at the weekend for retaliation has to be this one:

The reduction is a farce. Nobody's questioning his reasons after that tackle, but for them to reduce it stating his actions weren't too severe is a joke.... Their rules say if you raise your hands it's a red, and by default 3 match ban. A basic push can be interpreted as such. Matic got up and in a premeditated act ran 10 yards slamming the player from behind with both hands and also had a raised knee across his side... enough to put him on the floor...... How the hell is that now stated as not severe enough for a 3 game ban. The FA are pathetic.

Also, the commentators after Bartons red, said in the 2nd half that the ref had apparently stated, at half time, he would've got red for his first incident (the tame push on Bruce). How pathetic would that have been....?! More to the point, Meyler pushed Barton higher and with much more force after he hit Huddlestone, and yet Meyler gets nothing at all... where is the consistency. It's pathetic all round. Anyway, People fail to notice Bruce first off barged into the back of Barton and with his right arm flicked out into Joeys stomach which caused his initial reaction. Then Huddlestone barged through the back of Joey also.

Refs are generally weak and this one especially. Yes Barton needed red for that incident, but if he's said he wouldve sent him off for the first, then hs should've dished out more cards for sure, but no, he went for the easy option and left it at that.

How did Barton then deserve a red?

Matic nearly ended up without a leg. He also only pushed him. Getting punched in the nuts by a guy who's nuts is a different ball game.

I was kind of hoping it could get extended....

Unfortunately reputation works against Barton, as it did Mark Dennis, they try to change the way they are but every now and again, they blow again.

I think his reaction was restrained, I would have knocked his block clean off, Barnes knew what he did, look at the way he just walks away.

If we had appealed it would have been extended, 7 odd yellow cards on the bounce, plus all his previous.

Please don't even mention Mark Dennis in the same breath as this clown, Dennis was a very skillful player, hard as ####, his red cards where normally for trying to get the ball back, not petulence.

For what Barton did right in front of the ref he was only ever going to get a red. That can't be argued as was ridiculous.

My point was the ref had apparently said he would've given Joey a red for the initial incident, the push on Bruce. Yet Meylor came in much harder with his push on Barton right in front of the ref and the ref doesnt do anything.... it's all a farce.

Barton reacted for no reason, therefore a long ban. Matic reacted after almost having this career ended, shorter ban. That seems fair to me.

What the FA should really have done is not touch Matic's 3 match suspension but to look at the guy who tackled him and retrospectively punish him for the challenge. Exactly. It's farcical. No matter how provoked Matic might have been, his actions are as clear a red and 3 game ban as you could ever expect to see. To reduce it has now undermined their entire process and as you say will open a can of worms by setting new precedence.

Barnes should've been dealt with retrospectively but they have said no action ot be taken, so again ridiculous, especially after they did Costa retrospectively for a minor incident by comparison.

Agreed and IMO, the most farcial was the fact that Barton did what players now do all the time; The punce a bit here and a bit there. But do they get punished for it. No.Again; QPR are Cursed and hated by the FA and their refs.

the big teams always get it their way . barton was sent off at man city rightly so , the ref said if he had seen the elbow i think it was tevez or aguero had thrown then he would have sent him off as well . so why didn't the FA do something to tevez when they next met . ....barton for the way he plays , his larropp and track record will always get shafted whilst others walk... chelsea get away with loads and get any 50/50 decisions ... that big full back ivanavic falls over if he is lightly brushed against and hazard is forever leaning in and falling over resulting in many free kicks and penalties for the bluenoses , both are good players that don't need to do it as its cheating or as chelsea fans put it ' part of the modern game '
