Can understand the frustration with Caulker, but look at Phillips...... look at the thread where we choose what team/line up we want for the next match. Phillips makes almost all of them..... This time only last month he would be lucky to make the bench!!!!

Caulker's still young and got bags of potential. Got to be fair to him, and give him time imo

By excellent defender, I mean in terms of ability. as I said, he has awful decision making which can be improved over time and with experience.

Cheers for that mate, go join the Vblock and co brigade. I don't think I have ever heard of a positive WUM. But hey, think what you want, I don't give a ####.

Apologies mate, what I mean is relative to the standards expected at this club. I think he has a lot of potential and certainly has plenty of ability to be a top prem centre back but that won't happen until he learns some basic things like heading out instead of back into danger or not running forward and exposing the rest of the defence. Those are more to do with the mental element of the game, as I keep saying, the boy is one of the top centre backs in the league with his tackling quality, I think he has been ranked very highly on that statistically. I do blame him totally for the first and partially for the second and that doesn't change but my point is that if he learnt a few things from those around him like Rio or Henry even, he would get the right balance of ability and mindset to be a huge huge player.

your blinded by facts nas. he is a very good championship player at the moment imo but is young enough to learn his trade and become a comfortable premiership player given the right learning. at this time he is poor at this level. try to be a little more sensible when using words that should apply to greats of the game.

Excellent, brilliant, quality, legend, all words that should apply to truly great players, not run of the mill footballers. These words get far too over used on here.

Ok firstly, I don't think I have heard anyone use the phrase blinded by facts as that seems to oppose the whole point of the term. Secondly, I think that he has proven that he belongs at this level and personally, while i agree that he has made mistakes without a doubt, plenty here are blinded by that and don't realise that he has plenty of qualities. Once again, the term is used as a relative measure to the rest of the players at this level. David Luiz was a player very similar to Caulker but I personally think he and caulker are about as good as each other defensively. The difference was that Luiz was very good going forward and apparently, that is worth 50 mil for a cb and a fifpro team of the year position. He made plenty of mistakes, arguably more than caulker yet he is still considered a top defender. So IMO, caulker isn't as bad as you say he is, in fact he is a very good cb who would probably be a fixture in a europa league team.

                        And another one, top top.

I think you and I come from the Brian Moore generation. Kids nowadays are brought up on Jamie Redknapp!

i used the comment..blinded by the facts. chelsea laughed all the way to the bank with luiz as a defender-are you suggesting we try the same?? lucky to get 4mil off a championship team never mind 50 mil off a champions lge team. stop...your digging a big hole for yourself. who is he considered a top defender by...other than you and your facts??????
