  • Is there hope?

i deliberately gave this site a miss last night as didn't want to post on th back of highly strung emotions.

From what I gather we gave a pretty decent account of ourselves against the team 4th in the prem only to be undone by another last minute goal.

In general it seems Ramsey has given the players a life and tried to inject more pace in the team it's the only reason I believe Tralee started.

Gutted about Charlie and dunne and fuming now that we didn't get at least one more striker. However I reckon Vargas and zarate can do the business.

With a couple more tweak that are now imposed I reckon we could have a much more balanced team for Sunderland.

    Green

    Isla onohua caulker yun

    Phillips Barton fer lw!?!

    Zarate Vargas

Could we play Adel lm or bring in a youngster?

I don't think the above is a bad team and don't want to dwell on to many negatives as if we can produce a couple of miracles and come away from Sunderland and hill with 4 - 6 points we are still bang in this battle.

Noticeably different performance yesterday and we made Southampton look average. Majority of there 'chances' came from long balls because we actually harried them and shut them down, resulting in said long ball or them kicking it out for a throw. The risk of doing that was that with dunne and hill with their Pace then we did get caught once or twice and the goal came from Caulker deciding yet again he's david luiz and mucking it up again. Like sheff Utd déjà vu. However once yun is back then that should help that style of play.

Charlie being injured is a blow no doubt about that, however now does through up an interesting choice of style of play upfront. We now have thee skilful lively forwards in Adel Zarate and Vargas with the latter 2 having pace so we may find we start to open up teams a bit more with the interchange of positions skill and pace of the three of they were start together.

Fer looked a lot better in cm and him and barton weren't dramatically over run by the three Southampton had. A lot of Southamptons possesion was in their own half or on the half way line which is fine.

Traore is well traore, can only imagine that he started because he's actually the only left footed player that can play left wing. Sadly that experiment didn't work out and shows how crucial the adebayor and Jarvis signing would have been for those positions.

Ultimately we looked a lot better than in previous games, harrying opponents, making it difficult to play against and rattling them with some pace down the right and skill from taarabt/Zarate. One telling sign was just how poor our fitness was as everyone was knackered but the end. And also caulker needs these stupid runs forward beaten out of him as that's at least 2 crucial goals he's cost us this season because of it

How I see it is that with the unfortunate injury to charlie, the team cannot play a crossing game, since we lack height up front with Zarate and Vargas. We can now play a more central form of the 4231, with that front four moving around and creating danger with through balls. Taarabt, Zarate, Vargas and even Phillips or Hoilett would thrive in this style (hoilett certainly since this is how he played at blackburn). The defensive part of our game improved as well, with Barton and Fer really defending well, and with Sandro coming in soon and yun returning, I think we have the solidity to survive and build

Liked the look of Zarate yesterday, he gives me a glimmer of hope. Rest of the squad are pretty useless barring a couple tbh.

We've got absolutely no chance and whilst there will be loads offering all sorts of options the simple fact is we are not good enough and with the shambles we have become we are also likely to be laughed out of the league by all N sundry....

This is nothing to do with being a surrender monkey blah blah blah it's based on what's been going on all season and the fact that we don't have the fight or quality to stay up....

It is EXACTLY being a surrender monkey. How far are we adrift of safety? We've got as much chance of staying up as those around us. We're not even bottom ffs!!!

Man up will you and support the team!

Got to say looking at the table this morning actually made me feel better.

We are well in the mix. We keep losing and dropping points but so are the teams around us!

Right up to Sunderland and potentially palace could all be pulled into this with 5 points the difference between us and Sunderland right now.

A draw between west brom and burnley would be nice too

The team has given no signs of any hope or change around in performances and cutting out the mistakes. After every single defeat its nice to still be able to say 'we are still in it'', but thatnwont be the case forever, another couple of losses on the bounce and it will start looking like reality'

Is there hope .... we had another game stolen by a top 4 side, literally stolen, 2 wins or 4pts in 2 out of the next 3 games and we are out of the bottom 3 and well in the mix, look at this forum, it is full of utter shyte about relegation.

What will you think after the inevitable two defeats coming up? Though if a miracle happens and we can win one or both i would change my mind deffo. Not holding my breath though.

We have the players to go on a run, no doubt in my mind.

This team are not good enough to keep us in the prem they do not learn by there mistakes. same mistakes by the same culprits week in week out. its like its on a farking loop.New manager. please buy defenders that can defend, and not take it upon themselves to shoot up the pitch in the 93rd minute give the ball away then being out of position allowing opposition to score.A clean sheet at home to one of the better teams in the prem, and most importanly that one point can make all the difference for confidence and survival.know s hit sherlock.

Not good enough to keep us up? Im sorry but this team is a million times better than the team that did keep us up. Yesterday showed that we can defend really well and limit them, even without a fully fit back four. They got lucky, end of. A top four team known for their style were outplayed by us for 90 mins and got away with it at the end. I have no doubt that there are at least 3 teams that will by the end of the season have made more mistakes, lost more points and end up being relegated before us.

Bloody games not even been played yet and you've got us down as losing both??? WTF??

And as for changing your mind, you've already said (numerous times) we've been relegated!

Come on Kev, I thought you were better than being a defeatist.
