  • Harry and Tony: A doomed love affair

There has been a definite change in dynamics between the formerly inseparable pair. Through his favourite medium of Twitter TF has made it clear that the board backed Harry fully in the summer and it is up to him to get the team playing well and picking up points. Two weeks in a row TF commented on the players being fighters (something like that anyway) and the fans and I suspect not mentioning Harry was a deliberate message to the jowly one.

Harry probably expected to be able to sign a few players this window. The board cannot be impressed with what he has done so far this season and will be reluctant to give him anything. Comments of late by Harry that Les is dealing with transfers betray a frustration on his part and could mean he is being side lined on certain things with a view to big changes in the summer. Indeed Les in recent weeks seems to be increasingly prominent.

Having sold Mutch and with maybe one or two others being moved out Harry may still get one or two in today but I'm expecting not very much.

TF making those further cryptic remarks on Twitter yesterday add fuel to my suspicious mind. We are likely saddled with Harry for the rest of this season. TF had two choices, both with risks. Upset the applecart by bringing in a new manager which could go either way or stick with Harry and hope continuity sees us scrape through this season Premier League status retained. Personally I would have gone for former but can see other side of argument too.

Love is a fickle thing. I get the impression TF is trying to stay loyal to his old sweetheart but like an old sock he can see it is a bit torn, holes appearing and getting to be around time to get a new pair in. I don't think this particular pair of socks have been washed in a while either. There is starting to be a bit of a smell about them. It's differcult is love. Not always triffic.
